Default Secret Compartment / Rearview Mirror

I Just finished putting in some LED's and had to lift up on the secret compartment a little bit to run wires. I think i popped out some clips and for the life of me can't get it to sit back right. Any tricks on how to get it back in?

Also, my rear-view mirror came off when i was messing with the compartment. Anyone know how to get this back up as I spent another 30 minutes feeling like an idiot to get it back on.

3 words:

You Broke It.

The mirror is glued to the windshield using a special product. There are kits available at auto parts stores and are made specifically to glue rear view mirrors back on (ITS NOT just any glue and do not use crazy glue.

With the compartment, you might need to replace it depending on how badly the tabs are damaged or warped.

It the metal is still attached to the windsheild, you are good. If not you need to purchased the windsheild glue kit at the parts store. The circle ring is designed to pop loose if you apply too much pressure to the mirror so you will not break the windsheild if you hit it. If I remember correctly the mirror slide up into the bracket on the windsheild. You need to loosen the screw on the center stem a little. Slide the mirror up into the slot and retighten. Do not overtighten, because the circle ring will pull back out. Snap the trim back on the edges.

On the secret compartment, you must try to lift it back up and set it back down straight. The clips are not lined up in the holes. The panel also has line up pins that need to be in place before the clips will line up. Once you have it lined back up you should be able to apply pressure and feel it snap in. Sometimes you need some force, almost like slapping the part back into place. Be careful if it is not lined up, it will crack or break, especially if the parts are cold.

Awesome thanks, ya with the Secret compartment there is a huge plastic clip my idiot self didn't see in the very front keeping it from going in. And yes the metal piece is still there so I shouldn't have to glue. So just loosen it and put it back on....seems simple.
