I have a question that I would like to ask all of the MD/VA/DC S2K owners.

I recently had TSB054 performed on my car. After getting it back from the dealer, the steering has felt very vague, the front roll stiffness feels different (reduced) and the car tends to wander around while on the highway. Also, my steering wheel needs to be turned slightly to the right when trying to go straight. I guess my question is: Are any of you available this weekend (assuming good weather/road conditions) to drive my car and compare it with your car's steering? A friend of mine and I are going to look the car over Friday evening at my friend's shop, and hopefully we will find something. If not, is there someone out there that can help me? Please!!!

I guess you could view this as a mini-MD/VA/DC meet

Thanks,
Donnie

Donnie,

Barry '01 in Wyoming had the same problem with the steering. Maybe you could ask him in Car Talk?? His car wasn't in for the tranny/clutch TSB because it is a 2001, but instead it happened after he got the new short block.

Mike and Phil,

Thanks for the replies.

Mike, I will post something in Car Talk for Barry per your suggestion.

Phil, I will call you this evening (Friday) to try to set something up for this weekend.

Thanks again,

Donnie

S TWO K,

The TSB was done at Shockley Honda in Frederick, MD. Overall, I would have to say that I am pleased with the work that they did on my car - the clutch job itself was performed flawlessly. Also, recently my freind (ASE Master Tech) and I thoroughly looked the car over and found no obvious mistakes. Looking through the S2K shop manual there is a statement made in the steering section, not transmission/drivetrain section, that says when the transmission is removed the EPS neutral position must be reset (there was a thread in Car Talk recently addressing this). I am going to try this and see what happens. What's odd is that there is no mention of the this in the TSB or in the transmission removal procedure so this is something that could easily get overlooked. If you are thinking about having TSB054 done, it is probably in your best interest to bring this to the tech's attention.

I will post an update after attempting to reset the neutral position.
