Default Airbox Question

Ok so I was washing my car today, and I got done washing, and I was thinking what my car would sound like if I had intake on it (my AP1 is Stock). So I basicaly just took the top off of the air box, and tok her out for a spin, and wow I loved the difference in sound, It was awesome. In doing this did I lose any power? Possible gain? I was talking to a buddy of mine, and he had told me that it was not good for the car to do that, I could not understand why, and he gave me no reason. Opinions? Thanks.

You lose Hp, your sucking in hot air from the engine.

it's proven over and over

Get a CAI or a Comptech, FIPK

I had figured, I just really like the sound. But not worth it for the loss. Thanks for the info.

I have a Fujita F5 (www.f5air.com) and it really really sounds nice, much nicer then the box top off.

It sounds realitively stock below 4000... after that it sound absolutely amazing

you can gut out your stock airbox.. and put a K&N filter in there like me.. if you want the noise.... it does get louder..
