^^ I don't consider K&N a CAI either.

Also, your Celsius to Fahrenheit conversion is a little off... This link is to help you out

i didn't convert. sorry i know it's confusing. my gauge is in C, and i am familiar with F. so what I meant was that the gauge was reading xxx C (intake air temp) and I know outside ambient temperature is xxx F. you'll have to do the conversion.

not sure why you don't consider either cold air intakes though. neither draws much engine bay air, so that pretty much fits the common definition. yeah, snorkel would be better, but who knows how much better.

No worries, I posted that link to actually help you out, not take it offensively. To me, if the filter is in the engine bay then I do not consider it a CAI. The filter has to be completely out of the engine bay. That's just IMHO and the reasoning behind it is if the filter is in the engine bay then at some point it will start to get heat soaked which make it a Hot Air Intake or Short Ram Intake.

I'm currently running this version. I like it, but not as much as I did when I had the AEM CAI. I'd give the fitment an 8. I had to do some trimming to avoid some rubbing by the inner fender area.

I have the older version from K-lo (member) and the CF cover did rub on the hood. I spoke with Comptech prior to buying K-lo's CT intake and they told me that the difference between the new version is the configuration of the cover and the box due to the hood prop rod. The older version has an opening while the new has none. So technically the new version box is a bit smaller so to speak.

The main reason of the CF cover rubbing against the hood is if the intake box is not properly secured. It has to sit all the way down for the cover to be free from the hood when closed. You have to push the box down (squishing the A/C lines) to insure proper placement.

Personally, I preferred this intake over any other just because of its appearance. I also like the filter (foam) as I believe it would last longer than that of the KN (cloth). From my experience with KN filters, cleaning them is not as good as compared to a foam one. Although foam filters need more cleaning intervals than the cloth IMO. Granted it's not a true CAI since the filter is still inside the engine bay, but the placement is way at the corner where there is an air hole that allows outside air to come in. And to insure that you get cooler air, the box is covered. Again I like the CT Ice Box look it somewhat maintains the OEM config and easy accessibility for service.

As to the sound, well just like any other aftermarket intake whether Short Ram or CAI when you hit VTEC? Nirvana! It makes the engine growl more pronounced.

You can't go wrong on any it'll depend on your Budget and Taste. It's all play, enjoy.

Hmm...I got one...can't wait to put it on now...but winter is coming up so won't really get to enjoy. Also got an ASM header as well. Might not add a lot of power but hopefully sounds better than stock!
