Were the 2nd and 3rd diffs new or used?
You are Supercharged? What else is not stock?
Did you beef up something else and transfer more load to the diff?

And yes your right Skip drives like a wuss and should sell his car. though I am somewhat shocked that any part on his car is original.

I know Quaife makes an LSD for the S2000, Guard may make one as well.
Also OSgiken makes one

Looking around, the only 40% stronger claim I've found is for the case, which is a different part number.

What's your source for the LSD components being stronger?

Seems you didn't understand me.
If the parts (the gears) inside the lsd are totally the same size and shape. How can you distinguish 2 diff's when one has stronger gears without labeling?

i will be upgrading to a cusco 1.5 way in a few months, just need the ap2 to last a bit longer than the the ap1 for the time being... it will be a cusco 1.5way with a j's 4.777 gear set. no i am not super charged. i have tein flex suspension in the rear, the lower setting for the half shaft more than likely also puts more stress onto the lsd's. and the first one was original it lasted 1yr with me. the second and 3rd were all picked up from the junk yards.

edit i have tein flex suspension all the way around. i just meant the lower setting with the suspension in the rear puts more stress onto the lsd's and half shafts.

i do not understand what you mean...if you go and get an lsd from honda they will give you the same one whether or not it's ap1 or ap2. however, with a much more significant torque curve in an ap2 (since they use the same half shafts) and wider heavier tires they need to make a stronger lsd so it will hold up thus changing the materials inside the lsd without changing component size or structure it will replace an ap1 lsd with the previous material, and be sold to both cars.

OK, this is Off Topic, but it's your thread.

Let me give an example: if Honda made the gears 40% stronger by just an treatment process and put these stronger gears into the lsd's. What happened to the older diff's that where on stock at Honda factory, or spare parts, or dealers, or shops? Honda has several spare stocks in the world. So they distributed the new stronger diff all around the world and the local dealers put them in stock (or the national spare centers). Case: Jim has to get a spare diff for a customer. In the rack are 2 diffs: an older one with the pre-treatment process and the new with 40% stronger lsd gears. And now?

Well when you buy junk yard stuff you take a chance. I guess you are a going Cusco for the JDM thing? Quaife supposedly offers a lifetime warranty on theirs and it sounds like you might need that.

perhaps that would be useful.

they do not have spare lsd's if you order one, they have to make it. and order it from the honda factory. you cannot find a dealer that has a spare lsd.

You're saying that Honda builds up a new diff for me when I order one? Are you kidding?
I can get a new one from my Dealer within a few days - sure.
