^I used a 1" collar. Good luck with your AxialFlow, it's not for everybody (like a loud exhaust) but I'm hooked on the short throws.

I wrap the threads with Teflon tape and it works fine for me as long as the shift knob is tight.

When I had mine installed,I used Teflon tape on the maven knob I am using. The buzzing went down, but still there. Then I realized later the plastic peice on the shaft to hold the boot slipped off the boot and was probably buzzing on the bottom of the shaft.

I think i have find a solution to reduce the vibration issues, i re-install it today and i put permatex #24126 brake grease on the end bushing and, this permatex stuff is sticky and reduce vibration that seem to came from the lower bushing that was loose, specialy in vtec.

I install 1-1/4'' collar with rubber shims on the shifter boot with elastic on the leather shifter boot and it was not perfect but vibrations and buzz sound on vtec is more tolerable now.

I have re-installed stock shifter but direct feel of the short shifter miss me and since moddiction short shifter is discontinued, i have no other option.

Only thing i can said is the new axial short shifter still buzz on vtec and you will have to live with constant bearing sound of the tranny on cruise speed, very not perfect but i still love the more direct shift feel.
