PETG looks to be a better option gives better impact strength, expands less with heat (not that it should be an issue in this application for either material), and it can be bought by the foot for 7.71+ shipping... probably going to order a couple of feet of this...

I have ordered a foot of the 3" OD and a foot of the 2.75" OD.

Silver what do you plan to do with the high beam reflector? Are you going to remove the lens? If so are you throwing your headlight in the oven?

I ordered the 3"... Go big or go home

I have not decided on the reflector yet... I think I am going to leave it in because I might try and light the tubing. I do plan on removing the lens though. I think it will be much to difficult to fit the tube to the light the way I envision it looking.

I plan on doing some preliminary set-up tonight to try and rough shape the tubing. After that probably pulling the lens. I have a heat gun so I was probably going to go that route.

Cool,

To start off i am going to use a 2.75" hole saw to make the cut in the reflector where the high beam would normally mount. After cleaning that up i will be running the 2.75" tube through and trimming the end to fit the lens mold (Hardest part of the whole project i think) This is when i will decide if i want to go bigger or if i can go bigger without issue. The only crappy part of using anything over 2.88" OD for the air tube would mean totaly cutting off the sealer tube on the back of the headlight as its OD is also 3". Mcmaster should have my parts here tomorrow so i can at least start doing some more brainstorming.

Ugh, I just realized that the tube on Mcmaster is probably going to have printing on it.

It should wash off with rubbing alcohol don't worry.

Yeah molding the tubing to the light will be the hardest for sure

My stuff should be here tomorrow also... Ducting, tubing, diamond bits for my dremel, and black sealant. My hope is to have it completed sometime next month with my available time.

I called to check about the markings and got this reply...

The tubes ordered have fine lines that wrap around the diameter and run length of the material, but there are no size markings as requested. You will receive your order tomorrow.

Dennis

So yea if they just come off with thinner or rubbing alcohol that would be cool.

I bet the fine lines are the protective wrap .. Mcmaster Carr CS is hit or miss, I know I have had question more then once on things for work. They have a massive catalog so the reps have very little if anything more then what you get in the catalog. If more info is needed they usually have to talk to someone else then get back to you. Most of the time they don't even know (CS rep) who actually makes the item they are selling...

Got the tubes in, No markings! The lines that Dennis was referring to are very fine indents all along the OD but are hardly visible

Nice!

I am excited to start this...

I got my OBDII monitor hooked up in the car last night and set-up for logging IAT temps... I plan on doing a drive before and after to see how the IAT is affected when completed....
