I don't know about the traffic laws in Canada, but if you pulled crap like that here in the US, you'd wind up in jail, and possibly forfiet your driver's license forever.

I am going to add in a tailgate switch (hot on ignition, toggle switch) simply cuz I can. It'll help when I need to light stuff up

I wont use it in all probability. In my old car, someone chewed up my reverse gear (really close to 5th gear, they removed the electronic auto-lock) so much that I could actually throw it partially into reverse (with car moving forward) enough so that it'll activate the light without any gear engagement.

Does anyone think there'd be a problem with 35W (HID kit) going through a 27W (7440) wire? I'm under the assumption that since reverse lights wont be on too long it will be fine...

Might test out the theory - the fuse should blow before the wire smokes anyway

For what it's worth, I've done a lot of testing and unless you buy extremely expensive LED bulbs, you won't even achieve stock halogen brightness.

I bought the best I could find at a reasonable price: 3W LED...doesnt do much more than the stockers.

This was my result on a 4W LED. I had a pic at about 100 ft away, and the LEDs were nowhere NEAR as bright. So much so, that it could cause a safety hazard. They were about as bright as the red LED ring on AP2s without the brakes being applied. They look nice up close, but just don't provide the luminosity for safe nighttime driving at any distance above 25 feet.

This is why I haven't sold any LEDs for the reverse, turn signals, or stop lights. I don't want to sell something that could potentially cause a safety hazard.

If you're serious about doing it, I'd get a HID kit relay (or just wire a normal relay), so you won't be using the dinky wiring to power the ballast, which likely couldn't handle it.

cheaper just to mod any regular halogen headlight bulb for reverse. HID is just a waste, all that wiring, would have to use some pretty thick gauge wires

actually, the stock 7440 reverse light pulls 27W.

The HID's are rated for 35W.

Halogen lights are also rated for 35W (low beam)
High beams are 55W+

HIDs just draw a lot on initial startup.

Also, halogen bulbs create much more heat in the small housing so HIDs WOULD make sense to use.

27->35 watts isnt a HUGE jump, but it might fry the wiring depending on how much OEM honda put in as a factor of safety.

19 awg 4.13 amps 34 watts
^looked up the minimum wire gauge for 35watts, looks to be 19 or smaller. If they're running a 20gauge or larger I will just keep stock wiring and not use a relay/harness.

I'll keep the stock fuse though, so if it blows I'll think of running relays.

I'll have this done in within a month! sorry to keep you guys waiting.
