This is not correct at all. A bad ground can NOT cause amperage to increase. A bad ground would cause amperage to decrease.

It will cause a hot spot though which is really bad if the fuse won't pop.

Ah you're right, I forgot Ohms law, I guess I was trying to justify without thinking problems that could occur with the wiring.
