Hid reverse lights?
bump.
its now installed in my car, and though I dont have a DIY yet (sorry installed it really fast (1hr) and didnt have time for pics YET...but I will go step by step in a diff thread soon)
quick writeup:
-got H3 bulbs cuz they're similar in size
-you have to change one fuse in the panel to a 10A if you don't want to run a harness.
-with the 7.5a fuse in, it blows when you hook up TWO HIDs, works fine with one.
-I recommend a harness, and I'm going to do that asap. It will be even easier if you have an amp mount in your spare tire well - thats where I will be bumping power off of.
--
I ghetto rigged the lights by just supergluing a aluminum plate to the tail light, then glued the HID into the plate. it works well as far as I can tell, if it falls off though, it WILL melt your housing. Im trying to figure out a better way to attach it.
I didnt cut any wires of the OEM harness yet, but I think I will have to, for a more permanent job.
results:
I'm super happy with it, there is a half second delay before the HIDs "warm up" but once they're on, its like daylight!
Ill have pics up soon.

A whille back I was having trouble finding reverse led lights that were bright/white enough, but today I found a couple Youtube videos feat. a RL with Hid converted reverse lights. Looked great to me. Does anyone here have Hids as reverse light on their S??
ah sorry sorry. Really REALLY busy lately with school and work.
as a quick update,
I was blowing 10 and 15 amp fuses so I actually installed the relay harness from my amp and now it works better. I'll have pictures/diy up by this weekend.

HID ON:

HID OFF:

thats with the iPhone autodark/autobright function so the light is actually brighter than it looks, and the scenery is darker than it looks.
