Arrow K&N drop-in VS K&N FIPK?

I am seeking opinions on the K&N air filters:

is the FIPK better, performance wise and/or sound wise, than the drop-in
air filter replacement?

My opinion is the FIPKis much nicer looking, but more $.

I am wondering if their performance and sound is different?

Also, would this be a proper first mod?

great first mod. As for the noise of the FIPK take the lid off your airbox. Its loader and better then than. The only reason from what i can tell to get the FIPK over a drop in is the sound. I got a FIPK.

I love the FIPK. I dont have that many mods on mine, but it is definatly one of my top 2 favorites. It is kind of hard to decide. It sounds great and in my opinion was worth every penny. A word of advise for when you are looking for one. Yuo may be suprised, but there a re a lot of places that can get K&N stuff for you way cheeper than your local performance shop. I got mine from a place called truckwell alaska. It is a company that specializes inbuilding work trucks, but they are a distributor and had the cheepest price on K&N stuff. I would never had thought of them had it not been for my buddy who works there though. You should definatly call around though and price a few different places. You may end up saving yourself a few dollars.

Go FIPK, sounds great, more mid-range power, improved throttle response, easy install.
I printed a price($240) from an online store and took it to advance auto parts, they matched it. Not sure you have advance in your area, but any large parts store should do the same... Pep boys, Auto zone, etc. Good luck, I'm sure you will love it.
