Default Keep hydra standalone, or get Greddy Ult?

I currently have Hydra EMS from my old Corolla XRS, that i learned to tune. I learned nearly every aspect of the hydra ems, everything from starting the car, to making it runs the same in 32 degree weather vs 90 degrees.

I just sold my corolla and purchased an AP2 (04) S2000. Now i can buy the hydra harness for the hydra, but i dont know that i want to go through all of the tuning again.

I mean i can raise rev limiter by 300rpm, control the AFR/ignition at all times to always be the same. But i would lose the temp gauge on the car unless hydra fixes it. Some buddies with the s2000 said why not sell it, get the 1300 dollars i can sell it for, and buy the e-manage ultimate with p&p harness for 500-600. You can lower vtec, adjust afr and add some timing, and keep all the daily and perfect daily driving ecu. Hydra is a bitch on the idle, well it takes a while to get it just right.

What are your all thoughts. I know how to tune both, and tuning hydra from scratch blows and takes A LOT of time. I mean what can i do with 300rpm more anyways? And if emanage ultimate maintains all of hondas stock tune, and control WOT to gain the power, why not?

I am not aware of the Hydra, but if its really a hassle then, why go through with it again?!

I've heard tho from some tuners that the Greddy, ultimate or blue, over time prematurely burns out your coil packs. The logic being, that their system extends the duration of the, for the lack of a better term, the "charging pulse" within the coil to deliver a better spark.

Please correct me if I'm mistaken.

Yikes, dont want to do that. Im staying N/A, no building the motor. Just would like to squeeze out some extra horses.

If the emanage does that, what else could i use that controls vtec, ignition and fuel?

Anyone else have advice or can they confirm or call that false about the e-manage doing that?

I've heard both wonderful and bad things about the Greddy E-manage. I just decided to go with a Apexi AFC Neo. You can adjust Vtec and adjust your AFR and you don't need a computer like the Greddy E-manage does since the Neo has a screen with buttons. With the Neo though, you can't adjust timing.

The big difference between the Apexi AFC Neo and the Greddy E-manage is that Apexi changes the signal going into the ecu while the Greddy E-manage changes the signal after it leaves the ecu. In other words, with the Neo, the ecu changes everything since the incoming signal gets changed so you don't need to worry about things getting messed up except for your AFR.

I haven't installed mine yet, but from all of the dynos I've seen, they usually get at least about 8whp peak, many times more. After peak horsepower, it keeps a lot more horsepower where it normally falls down. It also will smooth out your vtec crossover and usually you can get about 12-25whp at about 5-6k.

Heres a couple of topics on here with their dyno graphs.

So does no one use the greddy on an NA? I like the idea of controlling both Fuel and Ignition, as i know they run the ignition conservative, and gain def raise it some since i run on 93 and stock requires 91.

EDIT: Thanks for your info Disclaimer.

use your Hydra, stand-alone will give you much more flexabilty and you can always swap your OEM ECU in for inspections if you stay NA with the factory common plenum.
