Default Modifry 3 Inch Dash Bracket Help

I just purchased one a few days ago and it just came in. looks just like the picture but with one issue. there is a bend on the top that bends back. is this suppose to be like this? could you guys post pictures of yours. im not sure if i got the newest version or not and thats why it is the way it is.

this would be right side up so what is the point of the tap up top that goes to the front of the car?

^ This. The bracket is made from thin steel and flexes easily without the bend.
