Default OEM shift boot ring.

My stock shift boot is in good shape, but it sags down an inch or so from the OEM shift knob when I drive, I pull it up but it eventually sags back down. Most cars have a ring or something under the boot to keep it at the knob, is this missing from my car or was there never anything?

Sorry for all the dumb noob threads, just trying to pin down all the easy fixes.

It's a tie-wrap slotted through some small slits in the leather's seams. Pop the center console loose, unscrew the knob, and look inside the boot.

I can feel a zip tie in there, I assumed it was put there by the same person who wrapped the shifter with electrical tape and slammed some cheap shift knob on there... lol

they all sag like that though, I just ordered a leather replacement from Ricks as I don't like the look of the stock one, I got the black leather with red stitching to match my Clazzio seat covers. I've got a leather center console cover coming as well.

Yeah think that is normal. Mine is pushed down by a shift knob though since they are countersunk unlike oem so no gap there anymore.

I was going to suggest Moddiction as the solution to your problem. Replace the crappy shift knob with one of his. Other than replacing the AP1 wheels, it is the best mod I have ever done to an S.

My 2001 shift boot sagged. My 2002 shift boot does not. I thought it was one of the problems they fixed. Either way, a countersunk knob will clean it up.
