Default Replacing 2000 plastic rear window

Hey, so I might of accidently punched a hole in my rear window in an attempt to knock of snow.... I live in texas, so rookie mistake I suppose.

Cutting to the chase, it is a 2000 model, with the stock soft hood and window. It has a long clean cut in it now. Any idea on prices to have it fixed? parts/labor?
I am a college student, so I dont have tons of coin to spend, but it is something that must be done I guess. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I believe its like 200 for the plastic window and some pop rivets. You can order it from hard top guy. I cant say how much it is to install at a dealer, but I'd say they'd charge you 200. Another solution would be to purchase a glass softop for like 550 used or 800 new. Check the classifieds on here. People sell them all the time.

Do your research. I kid you not this is not as easy as you may think. If you want to do just the window, then sure it should unzip and fit in a new one. However be careful there are step by step instructions. Also I fully suggest getting the glass window and doing appropriate modifications to the frame to get this to work. I had a soft top with plastic, bought everything to do the swap, had my car broken into, someone cut through the roof. luckily insurance covered it, but the glass would have been so much nicer than the plastic.

Any how good luck and understand it is about an 8-10 hour job to change the top.

Use 4 inch wide clear packaging tape on the inside and out. I just stopped in the fedex store and the girl at the counter just gave me a piece. Then use wax, preferably "Plastix" over the tape on the outside. That will last months and be water tight.

Thanks for the advice, I have a decent tape job on it now, and will redo it with the plastix this weekend. Hopefully it can hold out till I get a little more funds.

Around 5 years ago, I had the same issue. My MY2000 GPW was "slashed", and at the time I was a poor college student...I ended up buying a new plastic zip in piece, and did it myself. At that time, the back plastic zip in piece was around $450 if I remember right. My local Honda stealership wanted to charge me over $500.00 do install it. To make a long story short, I saved some money and, I spent every evening for most of the winter (roughly 2 months) in my garage learning how to do it (following good online instructions ofcourse). It really wasn't too bad if you have the time.

2 months? Makes me think i missed something when i did mine in two hours. I re-attached everything and put everything back the right way(excet the rivets of course.)

Wait - so I'm reading this wrong -- you can put a glass piece into the softtop for an AP1 without any nodding needed to the top or section that holds the window?
I was under the impression that when one goes from an AP1 softtop to an AP2 softtop that there was a whole changing of the frame and top!!???

You can change the window to another plastic window easy. its going from plastic to glass where the mods are needed.
