s2k js racing 70rs single
Hi, everyone. i am a newbie on car modifications so i would like to seek some help on my situations.
i have bought a s2000 with a 70mm test pipe and js racing 70rs single cat back.
but its really loud, i mean its really crazy and the sound really isnt very good. it just loud.
i have been notice that test pipe is illegal due to the carbon emission, so i would like too buy a high flow cat
my goal is to lower the sound within legal limit in SA as i still need to do the roadworthy.
i would like to keep the catback now as it was because i dont have money to buy a new one
if i put a HFC will it help ?? if so which brand is cheap and good to use?

The HFC still isn't strictly legal but it would likely help wth the sound some though I am not sure how the sound would change. Thats not a cheap exhaust and I am sure if you posted it locally asking for cash plus someone's OEM exhaust you could walk away with a quite exhaust and some money in your pocket. OEM exhausts are usually pretty cheap usually $100 or less (I literally tossed mine after having it listed for free before I moved). Do they make a silencer that fits that exhaust? That may help but again not sure how exactly the sound would change.

And yeah. It hard to find YouTube video about 70rs single . Mainly people are using invidia q300

A test pipe lessens drone so swapping it out for a high flow cat would only make the drone worse.... also don't buy the invidia. It is obnoxiously loud as well. The greddy se dual should be right up your alley but no aftermarket exhaust is "legal"

If noise level is a problem then you should probably try dual exhaust systems. I personally had the HKS dual and I loved it. Others will suggest Tanabe, Mugen, Fujitsubo, UK mod...the Q300 is debatable. I had it as well, a little on the louder side, but yes, fairly quiet compared to most exhaust systems.
As for single exhausts, my friends have HKS 75mm and T1R...pretty quiet for single and large diameter exhausts. There are more expensive ones made by ASM but $$$.
HFC won't do much with noise level...and in my state it is still illegal (CA!).
