Interesting comments on the K&N and one I am currently looking for an anwser for. I have the K&N FIPK II and I love it. Sounds great and has reasonalble gains in the mid-band. But it has always had a problem bogging in city traffic on hot summer days. so I have embarked on a project that may end with me dumping the K&N for something else, but for now I want to experiment a little. Here is what I got:
I just had the ing+ bumper and Spoon vented hood installed.
If I am going to keep the K&N, I am going to need to figure out some way on shielding the top from rain . the front opening in the hood is right over top of the filter, and while it should be awesome on dry days, I'm not so sure about the rain. I am going to need to bore drain holes in the bottom of the K&N shield for certain.
having the opening for the duct in the bumper will be good, and I will need to cutout the cooling plate for the snorkle, once that is done, it should improve the overall operation of the intake.
