To sum it up.

Pro's: Slight bhp increase (around 2BHP@fly on a stock exhaust, seriously!), weight loss (~8KG's), can reduce drone on some after-market exhausts, only noise difference is a slight rasp on a stock exhaust at 4k rpm.

Con's: Almost certainly wont pass a legitimate MOT (so you'll have to take it off and replace with the CAT come MOT time), smells bad, a putt putting noise is present on idle - no biggie really. You need a decat with a CEL fix built in.

I swapped to a berks HFC for my SC because of the above, if I was N/A I'd maybe keep the decat for maximum potential power.

AS pointed about above, the stock CAT is a HFC just not as good as a berks.

I swapped mine with a T1R 6mm resonated test pipe to match my 63mm exhaust. With a resonator instead of a cat, it is just as quiet but with a more aggressive, poppier sound. I have been pulled over several times since (without a ticket) in California and the cop has never looked under the car. If he did, he would just see a canister that looks a lot like a cat.

No cat also leaves black residue on your rear bumper from the fumes.

my solution was the HFC with the OEM heatshield on - so you'll have no TP smell, no smoke and the OEM look

Mine also doesnt smell near as bad as people made it on here. I don't hardly ever notice it. The only thing I noticed when I switched to a test pipe was that my exhaust tips would get a yellow film on them after a week or two, but I can easily polish it off.

The S2000 already has a hiflow cat. It flows better than most OEM cats.
Hyper-Rev magazine of Japan looked at the S2000 cats and said that the AP1's had highflow cats and the later AP2 cats didn't flow as well. A forum member had translated the article. There was info in the JDM Forum.
