This does not seem to be true. IIRC the top S2K'ers out west that are on street tires are laying down better times (~4 seconds) than mildly modded R-comp S2K's. Correctly adjusted suspension, improved aero, and increased HP can make up for lack of absolute grip, it's just not as cheap or easy.
I originally said "I can see a completely stock s2k with alignment, pads and R-comp stomp a stock class s2k with race Koni, intake, exhaust on street tires."

mst of tope S2K'ers out west at BW13 has coilover (instead of shocks only) and aero (splitter and big wing). I was just implying r-comp is worth more than race Koni, intake and exhaust combined. some of the S2K'ers I know that did back to back at BW13 claim r-comp is worth between 2.5 and 3.5 seconds there (over Starspec, R1R, AD07).

I still think simplest way for r-comp is a time penalty.

stock AP2 = bw13 2'09
stock CR = bw13 2'05

so stock AP2 + r-comp can probably catch a CR or shock/spring

the 3~4s between an stock AP2 and a CR are top street tires, near double stiffness suspension from springs/sway bars, and some areo

for a simple street modfied AP1/AP2

top street tires, non-staggered, coilover, minimal front areo, rear GT wing, bucket seats

= bw13 2'00

any more goodies, lightweight, entry level r-comp from above is down to bw13 1'56~2'00

unlimited modified is hard to say, you can go as fast as 1'46 like C-West S2000

Your "simple street modified AP1" sounds like the description for a CR, so how is it 5s faster than a CR?

because of the aero and non staggered. These are the best go fast mods you can do for your s2000. A GT wing puts down at lease twice the downforce of the CR wing eazy. And having larger wheels up front means you can run more -camber and still have good braking up front. Alittle for you guys wanting to run modded. Its going to be a fun year.

Also double spring rate over stock CR. And a big ass splitter.

Note time Jaku posted is for Buttonwillow. Where aero matter a lot more than say Street of Willow.

Aero dose also matter at Street of Willow. You just have to be going fast enough. I just got to a point this year that I can finally trust it. There is a point in our cars where you will spin if you go alittle fast but if you go crazy fast the aero will hold the car down. Its a weird feeling. But just like Kel says "trust the aero." This is for people who are running a big ass wing like me.

Less than a week to go. Have the classes and rules been finalized yet?

Jaku and I came up with two different simplified versions. Jaku's seems to be the favorite among the defacto rules commitee so probably those. Just waiting for Aaron to give the green light before we post.
