2009 S2000 Challenge Series
IMO, Stock should be:
245 maximum rear width (the actual size of s02's)
Tire rating of 140 + (actual rating of s02's)
Brake pads and fluid of any type
Drop in filter of any kind
Thats what a stock car essentially is. If someone has scrapped their soft top and added a hard top, ballast should be added. ANYTHING else is not really stock at all. Your definition of stock would be something like street prepared or almost street modified.

no, the guys who run on street tires have all sorts of bling mods that bump them into mod anyway. Just look at past s2k challenges and see how few people compete in stock.
You're saying that since everyone you know mods their car, we should do away with any stock prep class altogether by calling modified cars "street". Having a mod class works just fine for that. If we have a very limited prep Street class and no one signs up, we'll drop it for S2KC v#2. My guess is there are plenty of drivers on 140+ treadwear tires and virtually no other mods that are eager to run in that class.

But leaving that aside, how many people running OEM stock on street tires are likely to come to half a dozen lapping days per year? I did even more than that, but I was very unusual in doing so.

Not the point. We'll have a class that is limited to street tires. The way I built the rules for the Miata Challenge was to add so many points for race tires that the car had to be completely stock to run them in street class.

At best there were 2 people in stock class in 06 or 05, (04 was a little better) that made more than 1 event in a stock car.
Your miata challenge wasn't exactly successful either.
My suggestion is to start w/ a base car config and assign points for everything else.
