Aftermarket steering wheel - VSA and /!\ light - does it affect ABS?
So, I just installed an aftermarket hub and wheel. In the process of pulling the OEM wheel off, I also pulled the SRS sensor cover off and had the cables and reels fly out (yay...). I put everything back and followed the manual for turning the correct number of turns (probably did it wrong anyway). I installed the resistor for the SRS.
So. I start up the car, start driving, and the VSA light comes on together with the triangle ! light.
The SRS light is OFF (yay). And the ABS light is also OFF.
My main question is, do I still have ABS?
I don't care about traction control since I always drive with it off anyway. I just want to make sure I still have ABS.

Wouldn't the easiest thing be to just find an open stretch of road or empty parking lot, slam on the brakes, and find out?

Yeah. I know that 's the easy way to do it, but I don't want to risk flat spotting a tire.
Luckily i found this....
...In this thread, and got got Bluebarchetta to confirm through PM (DM?...).

I'll still test it out though, to confirm since there's probably less risk of me flat spotting a tire (as i'm expecting him to be correct that I still have ABS).

A few thoughts. I was always under the assumption that pulling the clock spring under the airbag in the steering wheel is what disables VSA. Not the actual act of removing an airbag. Removing airbags and/or the clockspring, however, does not disable ABS. That I can confirm. My race car has no clockspring or airbags, but fully functioning ABS.
So, maybe your issues are singularly connected to your wheel sensor, which can deactivate ABS. And maybe therefore VSA? However, maybe you have 2 separate issues. Try reconnecting the passenger airbag sensor, then do the VSA reset. See if that cures the VSA issue. If not, I'd lean to the wheel sensor issue causing both....
