I use to run cobalt pads until they started destroying my paint and wheels. I did enjoy the initial bite of XR2's and pad wear was indeed low. If I remember right, their not very rotor friendly.

If the carbotechs are wearing so quickly, ditch the brake shields and run ducts. I went from ~.140" [f], ~.110" [r] pad wear in eight 20 min sessions at VIR full to ~.035" [f], ~.035" [r].

I've been tracking and racing on the xr2 and xr5 pads for 3 years straight. I've never had the pads ruin my wheels or consume rotors at any abnormal rate. I've even left the wheel dirty from track use and sit a few weeks before cleaning.

My last set of oem Honda rotors lasted me 4-5 track days if I recall

Simply different experiences. There's no arguing they ruined the finish of my forged wheels and paint. Especially if water mixes with the dust, then its time to whip out the sand blaster. Bear in mind this was 2.5 years ago, the compound may have changed.
I'm in no way trying to drag down cobalt. I love the characteristics of their pads and if your car is strictly dedicated none of the above should even matter.
