Cracked Rotor!

I had replaced the OEM rotors which came with the car, when they were quite heat cracked from the track. I used non-OEM rotors from the S2ki marketplace to replace them. When one of these cracked all the way through prematurely, I took both off and re-installed the old OEM rotors I had take off.
I have ordered two new OEM front rotors, which I will put on when they arrive.

Mark, are these the same rotors you were using when you showed me pics of your overheated brake pads?
BTW, those pads held up pretty well, as you told me they would. I finally replaced them for the track day on Tuesday, so I got five or six track days out of them. In the meantime, I've put in brake ducts. There was no sign of overheating on the pads I put in and bedded for Tuesday, but I think I'm braking harder than I used to, since they wore down a good bit.
Fair enough, I didn't have the timeline. In a way I'm glad to be vindicated on the pad issue.
Truthfully I'm not sure why you had an issue with that particular rotor. We have literally hundreds of them in service, some on track cars, some not. If it was a design flaw then we would have seen more than the odd report of premature cracking. The company that makes them is not a small outfit and they make rotor blanks for just about every car out there, including as a supplier for some OEM manufacturers. Unfortunately there's really no warranty on those, especially if they've been subject to the types of heating seen on the track.
I'm glad you have the ducting in place. Yes, the faster you go the more the pads will wear
Funny how that works ;p

I don't quite agree with that. I don't have much experience on S2000 rotors but from my miata experience, the cheap Brembo replacement rotors easily got warped even when brand new and with just street driving. On the other hand, the Mazda OEM rotors I used never warp even with heavy track use, and even when they were below minimum thickness.
