Default Engine wont start after spin.

I was talking to a service tech from a small Florida dealership at the SCCA National Tour last week and he finally gave me an explaination of the "wont start after spin" situation, at least the part, why I had to remove the key and put it back in to get the engine started. None of our big Atlanta dealership guys could explain it.

Apparently the ECU detected something that triggered the imobilizer. He did not know specifically which inputs would trigger that but, he told me to check the green imobilizer indicater light next time that happens. If the green imobilizer light is not flashing when I turn the ignition on, I will have to remove the key and re-insert it to reset the imobilizer.

Interesting, but I've never had to remove the key & re-insert it to get the car to re-start after a spin. It might have been true for your case... or maybe the extra "pause" caused by you removing the key and re-inserting it just gave the car a chance to correct whatever (non-immobilizer related) issue was keeping it to start in the first place. Or, more likely, this caused you to turn the key to Off and back to On, which will cause the fuel pump to re-prime the system.

It's a commonly reported problem. One of many reasons why it is best to get the clutch pedal in and keep the car from stalling.

I suspect the fuel pump is the real issue.

^ I'm aware of (and have experienced) the problem where the car stalls and is difficult to re-start after a spin. I was just pointing out that I've never had to actually remove the key and re-insert it in order to get the car to re-start.

I've never had to take the key out of the ignition either, but I have had to cut the ignition off totally, sit for a few seconds, and then attempt a restart.

Apparently, your spins were not violent enough. We started out with 90

Yes it is difficult to start after a spin, but I dont think it is anything to do with removing and putting the key back in (i.e. immobilizer). If you wait for a few seconds and then try to start the car will start.
