Yup. Like I told BKL originally -- until you get the cars on the same tracks with the same drivers, that's all it is.

I'm not saying those cars aren't fast, but I don't have to be saying anything. He said they were the fastest in the world. The burden of proof is on him.

What do you mean "semi-tube frame"? Tube frame front clip, maybe?

They have the front and rear clips tube framed. I believe rules in Japan require the main cabin to remain original.

Does everything have to be down to absolute down-to-earth testing to compare which one is better? I certainly don't think so, especially at times the difference gap is large.

If you look at the level of engineering performed by the JDM teams, I don't see that done in North America on the s2000 at the tuner's level. Not saying U.S people don't know how to build fast cars, but just saying the focus is different.

You said a fairly bold statement yourself that none of the AJ cars can compare against the race s2000's built you've seen? How about Ben's car? The time attack laptimes have been lower than the race s2000s at Buttonwillow no? His car is still a street registered vehicle but with bolt on parts. So, if it is not the parts thats making his car faster than the rest, I don't know what is.

Who is driving the car? Last I heard, cars don't drive themselves.

The biggest reason these JDM fans have a bad name in this forum isn't because the parts they like work or don't work. It's because most of the people who come in here talking about them think that bolting on some magical hardware is a substitute for knowing how to drive.

Just like the street encounters forum, while not everybody involved in the scene is an idiot, it's definitely true that the idiots give everybody else a bad name.

If a part from Japan makes the car go faster, handle better, or slow down quicker, that's great. But buying a part from Japan just because it's JDM is absolutely retarded. I don't need sweatbands on my brake reservoir, nor do I need a dry carbon spark plug cover... my engine comes with a functional spark plug cover already.

If I've learned anything from this particular forum, it's that "JDM bling" is worthless. Now like I said before, if a part from Japan works well and is functional, I'll consider it... whether or not my wallet considers it, that's another question.

That's not actually the correct takehome message, IMO. The correct lesson is that all bling is worthless (for performance), whether JDM or not.

A secondary lesson should be that any mod (whether bling or "functional", whatever that is supposed to mean*) is useless if the driver can not take advantage of it. In fact, it may easily be worse than useless.

* A parachute is extremely functional, but it's not going to help your lap times. People asking if a particular part is "functional" are making a grave error. They are assuming that all mods made to the car are either non-functional or beneficial. In reality, those are not the only options.

My confusion is that Password JDM doesnt sell alot of parts for our car.

There is no doubt that the Japanese tuned cars by ASM, J's ect are fast...
but Password JDM doesn't sell their parts
