If you're not worried about being competitive, why not just save your money, get a good alignment, and unbolt one of the rear endlinks when you're at the track? Voila!

The stock suspension is very, very good for a production car.

For Autocross the car is perfectly balanced with the right alignment and all else stock if you're on street tires. No need for a front bar. When you go to R's things change, I suspect the extra lateral force on the rear wheels cause some dynamic toe changes.

I've been auto xing for some time, and tend to get a bit competitive. I figured this may be a good set-up for the mean time until my schedule opens up more for me to expand on the use of the car.

I think you/Ben are right. When I put my ST sways on, the rear was WAY too stiff... lots of wheel lift at autox. I put the stock rear sway back on coupled with the ST front and it feels like a great balance. I'd be intetrested to contrast my setup with someone with a softer rear and stock front. You should try to pickup an AP2 rear sway and you can put my 00' front sway on. That would be interesting.....

Free experimenting is always fun, and they're easy too so even better.

High speed cornering and no rear sway is not a very nice feeling, your high speed stability goes caput. I drove around unbolted for a while the car feels floaty, it would be fine for autox but I'm not sure such a good idea for track use, it induces a lot of roll.

If anyone's interested in a very competitive autox bar, send me a PM. I'm working on get a few custom Gendron bars made. They'll be 1.375" hollow (0.75" ID) with the standard Gendron arms (custom sized to fit the bigger bar), 6-way adjustable.

The general concensus is that the standard 1.25" solid bar (the stiffest one Gendron usually sells) is not quite stiff enough, which is why this year's SCCA AS champion had a custom Gendron bar in his S2k.

The range is from a little over 2x stock stiffness to over 4x the stock bar. This hollow version will also be 4-5 lbs lighter than the solid Gendron bars.

Price is high (not going to post here because it's not a FS forum) but if you want THE front bar to be competitive in soloII, this is the one.

PM me for more details.

BTW - I'm not trying to sell bars here, and if I'm crossing the boundaries of this forum, let me know. I just wanted to present all the info I could because it's an option for everyone looking for a new bar this year.

Had a couple requests for more info, so here it is...

Stock Sway Bar is approximately 300# per inch at the link.

The 1.25" Hollow Bar has a max of 832# /in and a minimum of 460 #/in. Each step is 62 #.

The 1.25" Solid Bar is a Max of 954#/in and a minimum of 531#/in. Each step is 70#.

The 1.375" Hollow Custom bar would be 1240 Max and 690 Min. Each step is roughly 90#. That's about 30% stiffer than the 1.25" bar (the one most SoloII guys are using).

Custom bar is about 10.6 lbs. Solid bar (1.25") is 14.6 lbs. Add about 5 lbs. for arms and hardware for complete assembly weight of about 15.5 lbs.

Cost for his custom bars is $799ea, and lead time is 7-9 weeks. If we order 3 at once, he'll give us 10% off ($720ea). If there is more interest than that I will contact Bill to see if a better deal is possible. Shipping to be paid by each buyer.

I'd like to order mine in the next 2-3 weeks. Please PM me if you're interested so we can take advantage of Bill's offer to build a few at the discounted price.

After some thought, I'm going to see if I can sell my custom 4 hole Saner bar with a set of endlinks for $400. If I can, I might just join in this group buy.
