What happens to the oil if you don't have a catch can? Is it just burned off? I haven't noticed any loss in power or smoke on corner exit, but I'm still on street tires.

On a given track day, I only lose about two X's worth of oil or less on the dipstick.
You'll know when it happens....you'll probably think you blew the motor The oil just gets burned and it cause an extreme power loss and pumps out huge plumes of white / blue smoke. Its possible to get blow by on the OEM 16" wheels and street tires. It has more to do with the type of corner (always right hand corners in my experince).

Do you think I need a catch can considering my situation? I was just going to hold off on it until this happens to me

Just get an AP2 valve cover, problem solved lol. I'm pretty sure this has already been discussed several times in here. Looks as though the vacuum created by the intake to pcv sucks oil from on top of the baffling into the engine. I always wanted to drill my baffling to see if that would help but never got around to it.

I have an AP2 Just didn't know if it was necessaryto get a catch can since I've never experienced the loss of power and smoke out of the tail pipe.

It still happens with the ap2 valve cover. I'm on stock Re050's and Rob said it also happens with the 16's as well.

When it happened the first time I thought I blew my motor like Rob said but luckily I later realized what it was. I doubt it's good for the motor so why risk it for a 12 dollar part and some hose.

I am not sure if all the problem is in the crankcase cover, PCV or the actually setup of venting the PCV into the intake. When you hook up the catch can the way you are supposed to PCV--->catchcan--->intake, you still get alot of oil trapping into the can, enough that I have to empty after every session.

If the distal or the tubing is not connected to the intake and allowed to simply breath, minimal oil if any gets trapped into the can. I just closed off the vent on the intake.

Therefore I dont believe it is all the problem of the cover or the PCV, it is a combo of the whole thing.
I wonder if Honda is required to have so many air exchanges through the crankcase for emissions? Maybe if it flowed less air it might not inhale nearly as much oil? Ah I don't know just guessing.
I think that would be the case because with the crankvents that's what I stopped was flow from the intake to the manifold through the valve cover. There was no longer that flow through but instead both vents were only allowed to pull from the motor which at that point is only blow by and not nearly as much as it just constantly pulling through.
Hope it makes sense. Correct me if my thinking was incorrect, I'm not a 100% certain.

As to your coil-over question, after reading up on the Racing boards, I've heard that the KW V3's are an excellent choice for your 75/25 needs.
