I change my synthetic oil every 4-5k miles. Results from the oil testing that I do after each change shows low to average wear patterns for this type of engine. You can have your oil tested at Blackstone Laboratories.

So what you guys are saying is you will drive multiple( 2-3-or 4) D.E.s or track events without changing your oil?

The most number of event days that I have run between oil changes is 3, but more often it is 1. So yes, I'll run multiple track days betweeen oil changes, and the oil checked out fine the 4 times I have sent it in to the lab for analysis.

Does that really work? An oil analysis? What kind of tests do they run to determine the wear of your engine based on your oil. I mean, it would seem that anyone can tell a lot from examining oil just by touching it. Sounds interesting though, I might send some in to see what I get back form an analysis. Thanks for the info.

I change oil about every 2,000 miles, or right after a track event. Oil filter, on the other hand, gets changed less frequently. I don't use synthetic oil.
