Figured I would add my data point. I removed the PCV from my 2006 AP2 valve cover and installed an AN fitting and then ran a 1/2" hose to a vented catch can. I didn't catch any oil during an entire track weekend. I then ran a 1/2" hose from the breather to my catch can so that I had both the PCV and breather run to the same vented catch can, and I caught about half a quart in 4 sessions. So the oil is definitely only coming out of the breather when on track. I am wondering if plugging the breather and instead only running a hose from the PCV location to the vented catch can will still allow the crankcase to breathe enough.
Have you already drilled the baffle inside the valve cover? I was going to try venting both breathers to a catch can and drilling the baffle...
Nope, but I believe the issue is definitely related to high G turns and the oil running up the side of the head and out the front breather.

LOL Do you know how oil makes its way up there? Why guess when the answer is here.

Magic? Who is guessing and what answer are you referring to? Let's just continue the questions.

No offense intended, but this is probably one of the most common discussions ever on this forum. I think what Macr88 meant was that the answers are already in the forum. Don't make light of what Macr88 says...

Between Macr88 and RobRobinette, nobody has done more research and testing on this issue than those two over the last decade.

Yea. Seems like the top rear of the valvecover would be the least likely place that oil would go considering forward acceleration is lower than acceleration in any other direction... I may try venting the valve cover there...

I am done with this thread. I don't want to make light of anyone while being laughed at. I posted my results over the last two track weekends and what my setups were.

My questions were very literal. I am actually trying to create a functional PCV system that doesn't require emptying a catch can every so often.

I think the mann system above solves that problem doesn't it?

I know I said I was done with this thread, but I changed from half a quart in 4 sessions to filling my catch can in two hot laps of one session. I am drilling holes in the valve cover baffle and going with a baffled catch can to hopefully prevent oil from spewing all over my engine bay next time out.

solution is simple, very simple. not sure if it works with boost, but its solved all my issues and I track my car like an animal.

paypal me 75 bucks I'll send you what I've had made. Its 100% pnp I just cant bring myself to post pictures of it atm. I didnt make it, I dont want to publish someone elses work, I'd rather sell it for them.

On most flat / mostly flat tracks, I never fill my catch cans. On the highway, I'll kinda fill it from time to time. About a polandsprings cap worth every 500 mi.
On tracks with crazy elevation changes, I'll pull a total of 3/4 of a pint bottle in 200 track miles. ie, i'll run out of gas before i lose enough oil to pit

Someone gotta take the plunge and learn what its like to beat the balls off the car and not have to worry about this bullshit. I have friends who fill their catch cans after 3/4 autocross runs, I look at them like they're crazy for not learning and still dealing with it. After you burn 4 quarts through the intake you too will have enough of it. You guys just need to drive your cars a touch harder!
