Ted,

The stock Honda spoiler is free.

I put the thermostat and radiator cap in STOCK per your request.

And yes, if someone thinks they can beat a well-prepped MOD class car with just a supercharger.... let 'em try.

I made a few more changes to the classifications. Rear Wing/spoiler is now 20 pts. since Jason Keeney demonstrated it's value on SOW on Friday, picking up a second on a 1.8 mile track with a very low tech solution.

Front wing/aerodynamics are 10 pts.

This classification will be "official" on 12/31/02. Changes will be made over the course of the year as new mods are added. Remember, just because you have a mod not listed doesn't mean you can run it without reporting it.

The Speed Ventures S2000 Challenge will be very popular and competitive next year, so choose your mods wisely!

Ok, this is getting way too complicated.
I just did the first trackday with you guys and had a blast.
I have some suggestions. Maybe we can "package" a bunch of small mods together. For instance, we all know that stb, x brace, throttle body, thermostat, etc. are mods that are pretty inconsequential to lap times and they are not relatively expensive. Yet when you add a bunch of them up, you get bumped when adding "real" mods. So maybe we can have a list of all the small mods that don't change lap time by more than .5 seconds and group them all together. Say stb costs x amount of points and with that you are free to add thermostat, x brace, cooling ducts, whatever. It seems like to me that a lot of the small mods cost too many points. Most of these small mods make very little difference. Forced induction should be 120 points minimum. There should be a bigger difference between say Toyo tires and Hoosiers. As a matter of fact, we should look into making Toyo our sponsor and getting wholesale prices for the tires which would end up costing less than regular tires. With respect to wheels, there should also be more clarification. If you are running stock wheels, you should be able to make more brake mods than running a big brake kit that requires bigger wheels. Stock (usa) wheels should give you some points and different wheels should be categorized i.e. stock size with up to 25mm offset variation costs x amount of points and anything else costs more.
This would bring the group that is not running superchargers and Hoosiers closer together and give you some freedom when setting up your car.
Concentrate on the mods that make a big diff. and leave the small ones alone????

ummm, rick did you read the rules? those little things are no points, hoosiers are non-spec tires and carry twice as many points as spec ones.

25mm offset variation is farking HUGE!!!! you making a widebody kit or something? and why would stock wheels cost points, that would defeat the purpose of the stock classification.

Rick,

I'm also a little confused by your post. But I have been thinking about the Toyo idea. A discount would be great. Mostly I'm wondering whether the Michelin's aren't actually much stickier than people are saying.

Glad you had a great time.

dt,
Could you clarify the differences between:
ECU/Ignition Control 25
Piggy Backing 25
V-TEC Controller 15

john,

ECU is an ECU replacement. A $1000+ ECU replacement, Mugen, etc.

I believe to control timing you need an aftermarket ECU? and that's why it's listed in the same line?

V-TEC controller = VAFC (just air fuel mixture and VTEC kick-in/kick-out controls).

I don't know what piggy backing is. someone mentioned I should include it. Perhaps the VAFC "piggy backs" on the stock ECU? that would mean VAFC/VTEC controls would be included with other piggy backing devices.

anyone? help?
