No worries, just my take. I'm pretty blunt, esp at 2am trying to wrap up work and playing on the boards. The fun part is racing. Locally the sites and course designs keep the setups pretty basic. With all the s2000s in str, there will be a good starting point for everyone to go by. Like I mentioned before about b-stock, even though I published all my setup info, few actually use those settings. Tire pressures, alignments, swaybar settings, etc are driver preference. I have driven on many different setups and can say without doubt that they are all within driver error. Having a vastly different setup is more along the lines of what I'm talking about. The cool part of str is the variety and how many different setups can work. Hopefully they can be documented for us to look back on.

Without sharing, why ask in the first place? That's kinda what a forum like this is about, isn't it? When I first started racing in b-stock, there was a top level driver that wouldn't share his setup info. It really took the fun out of it and began to root against them. The guys and girls in this sport that keep me coming back and have my respect are the ones willing to help you out and make you better. Do what you want, but if you wish to have your own secret setup, maybe figure it out on your own? Sounds like that is part of the fun for you? I could see that. Building something from scratch isn't my t, that's why I rely on many of the guys on here. Since I use this resource for my info, it woudnt be fair not to contribute when someone asks me.

I'm slow so any set-up input I say isn't very valuable, But thats how S2000 guys are birdshot, We stick together, help eachother out, and try to make everyone as a whole faster. I couldn't tell you how many times Dave has been beating me and he'll tell me a tip on a section then I end up going out and beating him or vise versa. If it wasn't for S2000 drivers like Marc and Dave I don't know that I'd be as invoved, have as much car prep done or as "fast" as I am. It takes people like that to grow the sport. Our club only has about 40 committed people, all the others show up for a race or two a season. Although we have 2 national trophy winning drivers last year and several that got trohies. I owe alot of this to the helping eachother out.
Granted now that I sometime knock at daves door on lap times hes alittle more secertive about set-up but up until reciently he's always been willing to tell me his exact set-up and help me with mine. Marc is the kind of guy that won the B-stok national championship, got up there and thanked all the b-stock drivers for the awesome support and overall friendlyness. Then came home and posted his full set-up. Shock setting, alignment, bar setting, everything. Great guy.
I am working anyway so I'm already up, lol.
That is really cool and I love those types of environments, and I am going to take a guess and say I will fit in with you guys that way.
But, somebody needs to admit that at the end of the day Autocross is not a team sport and you want to beat everyone you can, your best friends included. I suppose in a way we are "teammates" in the S2000, and If I can't get the win I would rather see a fellow S2000 take it I guess, but I would rather it be me!
That is pretty cool that Marc won B stock, an amazing achievement for sure, but in STR the car setup IS going to be more of a factor than the stock classes. It will be a bigger factor in how well you can do and getting it right will pay off. You are ok with everyone knowing exactly what you are winning with? It would showcase your true skill I suppose, winning and not hiding a thing to anyone, but you know that guys will skip the work for themselves and just go straight for "what works". The setup you worked for.
Stock is probably tougher to win so don't mistake me there, but there is much less variable. Your setup is pretty limited and it evens the playing field.
Don't get me wrong, I don't come from some super tight-lipped, unsocial group of loners, and if you want to know what springs and shocks are on my E30 I will tell you

well were glad to have you! Three guys from your local region came down to the last kyr event, hopefully you can make it down soon.
We will for sure, but this was our only chance at an off weekend. We autocrossed the two weekends prior, and we have the three day divisional event this weekend, the Indy Region points #6 next weekend, and finally the Indy-CSCC challenge after that...5 autocrosses in 6 weeks!
You better be a great driver or else people are going to shun you. I know that if I met you in person, I'd probably keep walking. For me, I want to put the best drive I can down. It doesn't matter who else does better. I admire Marc for his willingness to help. The camaraderie is more important to me than the position on the podium. Not that I'd be on the podium.
One of the FMod guys actually gave his car for someone else to use when theirs broke so they could stay in the hunt for the jacket. Classy! He won his own jacket the following year and got a standing-O. That's the spirit of SOLO, IMHO.

Your goal should be to drive your best of course, but who honestly isn't wanting to translate that into being the fastest in class, the fastest in raw vs your fellow drivers?
