I'd be surprised if the engine's undamaged from the abuse of #2. I'd get a leak down test performed and pay attention to #4 cylinder. That's the one that seems to get damaged when you run low on oil. As long as you're not getting a mis-fire code though it's probably OK.

Vtec when low on oil makes a bad situation worse. I wonder if you were dropping in and out of vtec during your runs?

The damage you get from being low on oil is accumulative. I think you should count yourself lucky that you don't have a rod knock or scuffed cylinders (I hope).

I live in South Louisiana and get 100 degree weather alot. i'm starting to think the problem at the autox is heat soak.

i've got some OBD numbers on IAT (intake air temperature).

Yesterday we had two s2000's accelerating together we were 150-170 degrees on IAT. The weather outside according to weather.com was 90 degrees ("feels like 97degrees").

(last night i put in a new K&N filter that happened to arrive in the evening.)

This morning for comparison, got i had 115-129 degrees on IAT. The weather outside according to weather.com was 74 degrees ("feels like 77degrees"). This is includes 10 minutes of driving.. some of which is full throttle, 9k rpm's and up to 138mph.

i'm going change my oil again and cut open the oil filter, but for now I will bring a water sprayer to our State autox sunday to keep the car cool. I"ll also leave the hood open and turn the engine off after runs..

.....
If ANYONE wants any help with OBD2 tests - I find it interesting and would be happy to share data with you guys. I may be able to start a database to show what's normal and what's abnormal for future trouble shooting. h mmmm.

Thanks,
Chris
