S2000 and ST4/TT4
So based one what I'm reading it looks like TTB is gone next year and TTC might be gone? The issue I see is running the math Most S2000's are going to have an AVG hp of around 205-210 range. Which puts them WELL short of what TT4 is going to hand them in terms of a power to weight. So the way I'm reading this is one of the most popular cars in one of the more popular classes is now going to be rendered obsolete due to lack of ability to make power easy enough to land in the class. I might be shooting myself in the foot by starting this thread as my car slides into TT4 nicely power to weight wise. But do we need to be arguing with greg for more allowances to give the S2000 a little help in the future TT4? Or do we request TTC stick around and just add 4 and slot the S2000 into TT5 in 2018?

I wonder how. If he goes after aero it will effect the S2000's cause nearly every track S2000 runs aftermarket aero. The only thing I see is going after forced induction , going after mid or rear engine stuff and going after fat tires (more expensive tires). The issue I see is the way the rules are written my car slots in beautifully with just a little bit of Ballast. But I've got an engine swap, Engine swaps are rarely cheap. On top of that Peter reminded me that his Caymen GTS also slots very nicely into a 12:1 P/W and that's a REALLY good car for ahem, $80k plus building.
I started instructing with NASA this year and have really liked running with these guys. I've been running DE since I don't have my own transponder and my car wouldn't be competitive due to stupid points (Mugen top and remotes add 10points for nothing). Been working on getting those fixed to run TTC next year. I think I could be really competing but still don't want to mess with having to first buy, and then transport/swap over to Hoosiers. I just want to show up, and drive lol. While it think this classing could end up helping me with staying away from buying Hoosiers, I don't want to dump my aero either
. I'll see how things work out, but might end up staying with DE again next year. Probably get more hot laps there compared to TT anyway lol

Unless I'm reading the modifiers totally wrong it kinda forces you to buy Michelin Blues which make hoosiers look cheap.
The Way I read it running a 225 hoosier and a 240 Michelin it's the same modifier. And the Hoosier gets the same modifier as a Firestone all season.
So to me the point of running TT is to win free tires. Running any tire that doesn't offer rewards of free ones makes no sense. I see no draw in running a street tire at all. No contingency = no race. So for that reason I don't like that Michelin Blues are the same modifier as Hoosiers. Because Michelin doesn't offer any contingency. So write the rules to make them a disadvantage and make Hoosiers and Maxis have a large advantage. The last thing you want is some guy on Street tires with no contingency winning the class in front of a bunch of guys with tires eligible for contingency.

TT4/ST4 ratio should be 12.0:1
TTC ratio is also 12.0:1 but is points based classing.
TT5, not sure will come to life for 2017 to replace TTC should be at 14.0:1
You take a penalty to run non- DOT tire such as a full slick. However, currently, all DOT tires whether street 200tw or DOT R such as Hoosier are all categorized the same.

Am i reading this wrong. It's the same modifier
Tire size 9.5” (241mm) or smaller if non-DOT approved, add 0.7 =
And
Tire size 245 or smaller if DOT approved, add 0.7 =
You MINUS .7 for non dot slicks, so for example if your raw ratio is 12.0, your new ratio is now 11.3 which means you're out of TT4 now.
You PLUS .7 for dot tires, so for example if your raw ratio is 12.0, your new ratio is now 12.7 which means you can either add more power or lose more weight.
This statement is assuming you're going to run a 245mm tire also.
*The penalty for running a non dot tire may have changed or will change though because there isn't many non dot slicks that are faster than a Hoosier A7 currently.
