Heck, this is great info!! I would've liked to seen this in its own thread to make it easy to find vs. buried in this huge out of control mish-mash STR thread. I predict that in a couple of weeks, it will be very difficult to locate.

Of course, I admit that I am guilty of posting in this thread where it should have been a new topic. Hmm... I wonder if this thread should be locked to force us to create new topics and put STR in the title, if it is relevant. I'm just sayin'.

When using those Laser alignment machines, I "heard" that the front wheel and rear wheel calculations are done off of a different distances. Something like at 20ft and 40ft??

I'm only at 0.2 total toe in rear. No wonder the car is a little hair raising at times! That I and hit my rear bumpstops.. .

I'm trying to imagine how you would measure toe in inches such that you would actually use the tire's outer diameter. You would have to be measuring from the very front of the tire (12.5" off the ground for a 25" tire) and the very back of the tire. I'm pretty sure that there would be some hard physical objects in the way. Like the chassis, unless you've got it set up with 12.5" of ground clearance!

Yeah but I'm not sure what the machines assume if you set them to inches. I've heard some use stock tire diameter nd a I've also heard some use a standard length like 24". None of this is from a credible source. Personally i assume 24" when i convert.

You could make/purchase toe plates with slots near the base that would be used to hold the tape measure ends. The slots can be sized accordingly based on the tire OD that is used. For example: Longacre toe plates have two sets of tape measure slots that are different lengths.

I created a bunch of STR threads in Racing and Comptition in an attempt to break this thread down and get it closed. Please go to the individual threads and do not post here any more. I requested CKit to lock this thread.

If there are additional topics please post and try to use a similar format. Thanks.

Don't forget to subscribe to all of these. They look great when notifications show up in your in box, no doubt what the topic may be.

Here are the links in no particular order...

STR Prep - Suspension and Alignment
STR Prep - Shock / Damper and Springs Discussion
STR Prep - Differential Discussion
STR Prep - ECU and Tuning Discusson
STR Prep - Wheels and Tires
STR Prep - Exhuast (tip to tail)
STR Prep - Weight Reduction
STR Prep - Sway Bars

Here is one more

SCCA Solo - STR Rules Discussion ---> (Debate rules and proposals here...)

Rob. I suggest those addition threads be pinned to the top on the forum so they are easily accessible.

Thanks for the great job, Rob. Agree that the STR vets should "subscribe" and a master link thread will be up top.
