Default S2000 wrecked by E36 M3 @ CMP

Just sharing my misfortune.. Sucks that it happened to a clean AP1 but I was fully vested knowing things could go south quick.
That said this really shouldn't have happened in a Time Trial event.. I know the bmw driver, we've been driving in TT5 for the last year.
He was pushing hard to try and keep up with my time and carried too much speed into turn 4. Look at my rear view mirror to see his line. He understeered right off the track and nailed my passenger side in turn 5..
BMW driver states that he will help with costs. He was 110% at fault but with it being a track incident, we cover our own cars. I'm not expecting much from him. I also didn't have track insurance. I'm at the track once a month so it didn't make sense in my mind financially.. I think going forward with TT and DEs I'll be getting extra coverage. It would have made this whole process 10x easier.

My safety equipment saved me here, hans, 6 point, sparco seat, arai helmet. Only walked away with a mild concussion and a little sore in the shoulders.

Now at a cross roads. Working to find another clean chassis to swap everything over or just part out and get into a new platform..
I've looked the car over and the frame has been tweaked in more than one location. The knuckle broke off at the top arm but had enough energy to start ripping the strut tower mount off the frame rail. Total repair costs are estimating to be around $5k - $7k.

I've found a handful of worthy clean cars but people are wanting $9k for a blown up AP1 with 100k miles.. Looking for an AP1 to put a cage in asap. If anyone has any leads feel free to shoot me a PM.

Pictures and video below.

Wanted to give an update on this. I received a nice large sum of money from the other driver. He's a good man.
I've been searching for another chassis with little success. I'm sure everyone has seen what people are asking for blown up ap1s... Its ridiculous.
I had a deal worked out with a buddy to buy his second S which was an 03 Suzuka LOL. Worked out all the details when I had another buddy reach out about selling his 06 ap2.. He recently purchased it off s2ki ftw.
Plan is to pick up the ap2 and swap over all the go fast goodies. I'll sell most of the oem parts and aftermarket stuff which I won't be using, seats, interior pieces, Ohlins dfv, spoon calipers, exhaust, etc.

I'll be creating an official thread for the new car, documenting all the progress and of course track days!

Such a bummer man. Glad you're okay though.

What are your end goals with TT? I would say re-shell, but it depends if you're trying to win Nationally vs Regionally, etc

Appreciate it dude. Plan is to come back with a cage, fire suppression system and get my W2W license. We have big turn outs in ST/TT5, winning free tires in some stiff competiton is a lot of fun. Might try to make it to NASA nationals at Laguna Seca next year.

I wouldn't want to put a cage in my car now with it being tweaked in multiple places. I do have a lead on another ap1 locally so working out the details now. Might have another car before Christmas!

Wow. That was a bad impact, looks like he went off into the dirt and couldn't shed speed and you caught it. Glad you're ok and hope you're back out there asap.

That was awful to watch.

I understand an incident occurring at a track is different than on public roads. But if the other drivers actions were optimistic to say the least or more like reckless, wouldn't a small claims court be an option?

we’ve had this discussion because club racing definitely has more of this type of thing. He’ll I got punted at Thompson. Small claims court really isn’t an option as most waivers signed have some liability waiver for on track incidents.

car to car contact sucks, even worse when it’s not a wheel to wheel event

Damn. that was a hard hit.

If your lead falls through, here's a clean rolling chassis.

If the other driver has insurance, would they not cover the cost? Or is it for one's owner personal car?

Sorry to see this, glad you’re ok. Absent a mechanical failure, this type of incident shouldn’t even happen in W2W, let alone TT. Sucks
