S2K, Autocross classing, and mods...
The talent pool and competition is partly what's drawing me to AS and SS (if I could afford it). STX has been dying down, and a lot of the better drivers have left the class, especially in my region.
Brian was selling his old '89 AS 'vette.....and so is Andi Mast. For courses out here, it is the car to have I think.
In Topeka however the 'vette did not fare so well with the slippery conditions and small/tight-ish courses (comparatively).
Heartland Park will be used this year and who knows where the Nationals will move thereafter.....lotsa talk about Texas....think that would be good - better weather, large concrete surfaces.
Keeping that in mind, I think the S2k has the advantage for this year at Nationals (not here in LA btw) but all bets are off for the following year ('09).

Also, don't forget the Rahal s2000 driven by Jared Rahal and sometimes Jason Tipple. It has more into the suspension than the car is worth according to Jarad.
