Rylan, your idea is the same as mine, except everyone gets 5 free points for showing up. And it doesn't have the bonus points for whooping up on the class above

John: What about my case? I've got a bar and a 6-point harness, but still have the stock seat. I'd venture to propose that it's a safe as a 6-point+seat+bar, but without the advantage of the seat helping hold you in place.

Hmm... Even with a harness bar directly behind the seat? If so, where would I find a sternum strap?

Straps are readily avail from race shops. Yes, even right behind the seat. The problem is you don't have the holes in the seatback for the belt passthrough, which is what keeps them together. Instead, you've got the opposite, they're bending around the seatback. They'll probably seperate in an impact, and you don't want that at all.

Edit: The reality is sternum straps are far from ideal too...you should get a race seat

The proposal for 5 points per car doesn't seem fair to the driver who misses an event because of , say kids , but because 5 others showed up the winner gets 25 instead of the current system's 10, and suddenly that driver is 25 points down instead of 10. So, say I could be leading the series by 20 points going into the last event, but miss that event and loose by 5. Doesn't seem reasonable. I think the current system works well, and if you are the only show, then you deserve the 10 points to go 10 points ahead of the no-shows.

Richard, there is already a provision to drop your 3 lowest events. I don't know if that's 3 lowest days or 6 lowest days, but that is designed to handle your exact situation.

With 5 points per car, the points will generally be larger (anytime there's more than 3 cars in a class). Therefore, a 20 point lead is a virtual tie. I disagree that someone who just shows up and putzs around for an hour should get 10 points for their efforts because they happened to go to an undersubscribed event.

Points should be rewarded for winning, not for showing. I guess we could use the OTC style to reward a few points for showing so you don't get penalized if no one else shows up.

Your last point was my point....why should the driver who shows up be penalized the opportunity to gain 10 points? What if he/she would have won anyway with 5 other drivers? I think you would have won Stock even if others had showed.

Hrmm.. difficult choice, I guess. In reality, I'm just frustrated I didn't get started earlier in the year. Doesn't look like I'm going to be able to go to TX, so I'll just have to focus on T6 and next year's Stock class.

I just noticed that front swaybars are not in the list of freebie stock-class mods. Is anyone opposed to adding it to the list? As long as we're on street tires, I can't imagine a swaybar being much of a benefit, except I don't have to take it off before each track day
