Penalties for weight changes is a difficult one. First off, differences in drivers' weight will be far more significant than most of the things mentioned. If a driver weighs 250 pounds and was not allowed to remove weight from the car without being penalized, that driver would be at a significant disadvantage to the average driver. The difference between two drivers can easily be up to a hundred pounds! Some like me added a racing seat for better car control, even without the rollbar and harness, and not for weight saving, and some arrive without a passenger seat because of wheel transport. So it is difficult to have a fair system, and what really matters is the total weight of the car plus driver, and that's going to be hard to manage without scales. So I vote we have no rules and penalties regarding weight as long as cars are street legal (i.e. have bumpers, doors etc). {and therefore I dont think my wheels should be worth 20 points }

OK. This is the pre-Final classification system for 2003. Not that more adjustments can't be made; I'm just trying to get more and more things firmed up. Based on all the feedback from above, here's what I've got:

NOVICE Classes (trophies awarded) will recognize 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for all three classes: (STOCK, MODIFIED, UNLIMITED). After having attended 10 SV race days, a driver is no longer allowed to compete in NOVICE.

COMPETITION Classes will have trophies and be PRIZE paying.

Classing for NOVICE and COMP.

(note some things have been moved around)

STOCK
Tires: up to 275 width rear tire, 120+ treadwear
Stock wheels only

5 points for either bumper, if they are non-aero, aka not do anything?! Why have points for them at all?

The new point system puts me in the same place as before 185 w/ the rollbar credit and 10 pt penalty for stripped interior.

Now that we deleted the MOD class, how about lowering the max to 150 as a compromise?

That would put a number of us into unlimited. I think aaron wants as many as possible in 1 class.

How about no points at all for spec tires? Anybody who is gonna run in that class is gonna run those tires anyways.
Coilovers 50pts? Since you can get them for $1500.00 now.
Internal mods? What kind of mods would you have to do to have the same power as a supercharger? That should be 50 or 75 max.
How about rear tire width at 255?

Too late, as I am now 175 points and did not intend to skip a class from the old Mod to Unlimited . .

150pts with 0pts for spec tires would work for me.
