5 points is not enough. I need 10, or we can also reduce a front splitter to 15 points (20 does seem high compared to 25 for a rear wing).

the points discount is good on safety equipment, technically ya could extend it to -2 for gloves, -5 for suit, -2 for shoes, -1 for nomex socks. I agree on the rollbar/cage and harness discounts.

(as long as noone is going to check to see if I'm wearing nomex socks)

Suggestion for next year:

One problem that seems to be especially problematic for Stock class is the extremely low turnout. If someone shows up at 6 events where there are no other Stockers, then that's a free 60 points.

I propose for next year the following points system:
A driver is awarded 5 points for every driver beat in his class
A driver is awarded 7 points for every driver beat in the class above him
A driver is awarded 10 points for every driver beat in the class 2 up (yeah right, Stock beating Unlimited)

This classification system has at least one problem:
Say someone in Unlimited blows a clutch on lap 2 and is done for the day. Suddenly, everyone who showed up that day gets bonus points for beating an unlimited car. There may need to be some exception for times that are more than 10% or 20% behind the leader of their class.

The advantages:
You only get points if you beat someone. There are no freebies just for showing up
If noone shows up in your class, you can still earn points by some expert driving.
It rewards drivers who have an exceptional day by recognizing the difficulty of beating a more prepared car

Having said that, I agree safety should be worth more next year... Maybe 10 pts for rollbar, 5 more for harness, 5 more for a full cage?

The S2000-classing silly season has begun...
Rollbar------------10pts
Cage--------------15pts
Racing seat-------5pts
Harness-----------5pts but must be accompanied by rollbar and seat

I'd like to see this just to keep people from putting in a harness w/o a bar or a race seat.

Not that I'm really in this discussion

I can't believe I'm saying this, but in response to Payne...right now it goes 10-6-4-3-2-1 I'd say if there are fewer than 6 drivers in a class the points go 1 to the right. so if there are 4 drivers 1st through 4th gets: 4-3-2-1

At least it limits the number of free points yet get...It would need some tweaking, cause it would suck to only get 1 point for winning your empty class, but it's on the right track I think.

# of people in class x 5 per place.

1 peep, 1st 5pts.
2 peeps, 1st 10 pts, 2nd 5 pts.
6 peeps, 1st 30pts, 2nd 25, ... 5th 10, 6th 5
