Unfortunately no. Its a massive cheater tire and totally allowed under the current rules.

I'd love it if they went back to calling it what it is (a 245). Right now that particular tire is so dominant that its utterly ridiculous.

I remembered seeing an asterisk about the Hoosiers. Went back and I guess that rule only applies to the 255/35/18 in a6 & r6. Never paid much attention to it because I am not at that level yet.

Really wish Greg didn't have a massive hard on against full slicks.

Your numbers are a little off. Here are the popular S2000 sized Hoosier A7/R7 options:

Size / Wheel Widths / Mounted Wheel Width / Section Width / Tread Width

P225/40ZR17 8-9.5" 8" 9.6" 9"
P225/45ZR17 7-8.5" 7.5" 9.7" 9"
P245/40ZR17 8-9.5" 8.5" 10.3" 9.7"
P245/45ZR17 7.5-9" 8" 10" 9.2"
P275/35ZR17 9-11" 9.5" 11" 10.3"

There is a clear size and grip advantage going from 225 to 245 to 275. Choose your poison and modify your fenders accordingly. I am thinking about moving to the 275 next season.

Fender modification aside from a basic roll pretty much kills you ever running in HC without undoing it all though.

I'm thinking more about the rears. But 949 comes to mind for a good wheel choice in a 10" that would clear a 275 without a flare...maybe

Have you read the rules for Honda Challenge? They allow rolling of the fenders and any modifications you want under the fenders. You just can't pull/stretch them at all. They must retain the OEM profile when viewed from above just like you can't see the top of the tire from above and be legal. You can easily fit 245 width Hoosiers under OEM rolled fenders front and rear with a properly offset wheel.
