Yes,

That said, it was cheaper for me to go to TT2 power than TT3 (at 10:1). If it were 9:1, I would probably detune and run in TT3, though.

I just went back to doing track days. Cheaper and more track time... Ultimately more fun. Enough to outweigh a set of tires I won. I could never understand how one person dictated all of this for a national club

I've been considering the same thing, drop out of TT and just run hpde4.

I've been running TT on street tires for a while now. No where near "lap record serious business" competitive, but I'll play with the TTD guys and have a good time.
For me it actually allows for more seat time while instructing since it's another set of sessions I can go out in. But that only helps if you're instructing and can run HPDE3/4 or TT.

I agree--stop changing the classes every year......TTC was changed for this year(2017) and then TT5 will be yet another change for next year(2018)?! why? Change it once and be done....

Agree 100% and I tried to bring up this point on the NASA boards. The gap between TT5 and TT4 is going to be like 600 lbs at a stock horsepower level.... The response I got was that they want the classes to be consolidated into fewer classes so there are more entries in each class.

I don't really agree with this.....Here's why:

People will have to spend more money to be competitive as they will have to take their car "further" in terms of mods to max it out for the class. This will make the cars less reliable--again more expensive. This larger up front investment and larger ongoing maintenance cost will reduce the desire of many to start doing time trials, which will reduce overall attendance in each class which is exactly what he says he is trying to avoid. The classes definitely need to not be so far apart in terms of power:weight.

The problem for me is that still 3-4 times more expensive than a track day with less track time. If I'm not winning tires, there's really no reason for me to spend the extra money. That's my take and I realize others don't see it that way, but I like to make the most of my money and go on track whenever I want to, aside from lunch break.
