Hey, rules keep us all in check. I would hate to be part of the alternative! Still, I'm amazed every time when I see how certain people push others away by self proclaiming themselves as the keeper of rules and constantly look for those who are not following them. If someone came to AS and actively became involved, we would just encourage them to take off the mods to be legal or move to an appropriate class. Then there are the other types who make their and look stock and claim it's stock, but secretly mod their cars to get more power, more camber, more boost, and etc. The funny thing is that these guys usually get beat and called out when this stuff comes to light. Sadly, both these types of people are usually avoided and end up hanging out at these events by themselves. I hope it's worth it to them!

Are you planning on trophying?
I plan to win, the problem is that everyone else also has the same plan! I seriously don't know, but my goal is getting in the trophies.

Thanks to everyone for the input. It seems like a fair bit of risk for what's basically a personal preference, I'll leave the stock knob on and look into an alternate camera mount that keeps the windblocker in place.

How does the Modifry mount stand up to a older/heavier 8mm camera?

I use the modifry mount with a Canon Optura 50. Its a Mini-DV that is small and compact but weights too much. It causes shaky video and I haven't figured out a solution short of getting another camera.

I don't have a heavy camera, but I did figure out a way to stabilize the wobbly compartment lid. I took a sheet of foam packing material and folded it into a strip that runs along the front edge of the compartment lid, just behind the latch. The important places to support are the front corners.
