STR Prep - Sway Bars
This kind of thing makes me wish people (myself included) didn't update the original sale post so members could go back and reference stuff like this. I do however have all the correspondence to whom I sold the bar to in January. If needed I can forward that to legend. I would really be pissed if the guy who sold it to legend made a profit on it. Cause I sold it for a pretty fair price.
Peter, I really can't thank you enough for your response and generous offer. After what I've been through with this seller (quite a lot over the past month, unfortunately, aside from the sway bar), you really made my day and made me feel better, that there are truly good/honest/helpful people here, that more than make up for the few abberations.
Sorry about this mess, and also about the previous comments people made about the bar/arms, having them here in person, I think they certainly look/feel like solid high quality pieces, just not what I was told I was buying.
Jon, I had ordered the replacement arms/endlinks from Bill at SFR right away, as I thought I was missing the top 3 stiffness settings and per his advice needed the links as well, and did not want to delay getting my setup together any longer. No more missing events and test and tunes for either of us!
What effect do the shorter arms have, and do the available holes match the stiffness settings on the Gendron in terms of rates?
The links I have feel a bit stiff in the rod ends rotating by hand, should they be resistance free? Thanks for the feedback on the endlinks, if the ones I have are still good maybe I will use them instead.
I'm waiting on the seller to get back to me, I've let him know I talked to you, will be interesting to hear his response this time. Noel, thanks for your advice, I will contact you if I need legal help.
I'll email you back as well Peter, thanks again.

With the shorter arms, I was just trying to save a little weight. The three holes correspond to the 3 stiffest settings on the first generation original swaybar back in 2001/2002. I'm not sure if SFR has drilled any stiffer holes. IMHO any stiffer holes would create some nasty angles on the endlinks. I don't think it's necessary given the ability to change components. i.e., 1.25" hollow, 1.25" solid or the 1.25" stepped "Monster".
As far as the endlinks, you really aren't going to be able to move the ball inside the rod end by hand. And it's pretty stiff even with leverage from a bolt. If they move freely it's a good sign they are worn. Keep in mind the forces on those links. IIRC the solid 1.25" on the stiff setting generates something like 1500 pound feet of force. (I'm attempting to remember this from a spreadsheet generated by Steve Wynveen in 2003/2004 so don't quote me on those numbers) It's a lot of force. I had originally started with teflon lined rod ends and those lasted approximately 3 days on the street before they started making noise. The kevlar lined lasted a season and a half (for me 9 events, and two track days) and 12 months of daily driving (no winters). I would have run them again if I didn't trade the car.
Since it looks like you've ordered arms from Bill anyway. I'd love to buy back my arms rather than run the risk of never seeing them again. I've already lost track of one set. I'd hate to lose these too.

I'm 100% you got a gendron copy. Not a true gendron bar from Bill Gendron him self. Bill doesnt sell arms that look like that, the collars bill sales are black, bill doesn't sale end link that look like that, and I'm unsure about the mounts since I have ball bearing mounts but I would guess bill also doesn't sale mounts like that either.
Will the bar work?
YES it will.
Will you know the bar rates?
No not unless you take a bunch of measurments and know how to calculate them.
Did your bar touch the hands of the great Bill Gendron, the all mighty swaybar maker?
Hell no it didn't. My little brother could of made swaybar arms that looked better than that.
Did the person that sold you this bar list/tell you that it was a Bill Gendron bar or did he say it was "like" the Bill Gendron bar?
edit- forgot to answer one of your questions. Yes you can switch out the arms. Bill charges around $200 for the arms and based on the pics you need endlinks also which are another $100 or so. Don't quote me on the prices because I think they very depending on what day of the week you ask him but somewhere around that price.
this is a gendron bar-

your pic-

1- what the f@#k is this crinkled metal? Bill doesn't do that
2- I'm over looking the non evenly spaced holes, is that a snapped end-link in this picture? Really?
You got got.
will the real Bill Gendron please stand up?
there he is to the right- http://www.smallfortuneracing.com/Pr...24/page24.html

Let me give you a f@#king hint. IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT THE f@#k YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT, DON'T f@#kING SAY ANYTHING ABOUT IT. That doesn't just go for this thread, but most of the threads you pollute on R&C. The way you're posting makes it sound like "OMFG its not a real Gendron your car is going to blow up!"
First off you moron, Gendron didn't magically create this whole setup. All he did was copy it and was the first to adapt it for the S2000. Google "nascar sway bar" you idiot. And in case you're an even bigger idiot than I estimated, no, Bill Gendron did not create the nascar sway bar. I guess your "authentic" Bill Gendron made all these arms too:
"People "copying" Bill's amazing design"
All the parts of Bill's bar is SOURCED FROM OTHER COMPANIES. The only thing Bill does on his own is make some changes to the sway bar arm. Everything else is easily sourced from other sources.
Second, that bar DOES look like Gendron's earlier bars, except for the crinkles. Pete said that he did it like that so he could keep the strength of the bar, so in fact, it could be STRONGER thus BETTER than Gendron's bar. I remember Pete had access to some fancy equipment that Gendron might not.
Third, most of the evolution of his bar wasn't even FROM your "amazing" Bill Gendron, it was from other competitors that had to take some of the flaws in Bill's original design and change it to work. Bills earlier bar in fact DID have bolts running thru the endlinks, just like in the picture of said bar. Problem back then was that the way Bill built the bar, the bolt would interfere with certain aftermarket shock bodies. Another competitor (I think Andy Mckee?) wanted to use the current heim-jointed endlinks, but the bolt length was too short to go thru the bar. So that competitor machined down the thickness of the bar so that they could use that heim joint. Later on, Bill changed his bar to use the same heim joints.
Fourth, the world is not going to end becuase it doesn't have all 6 holes you retard. Pete's bar doesn't have all the holes that Gendron's bar does becuase most, if not all, of the BS competitors back then never used the last 3 holes on the bar. In fact, several very serious competitors machined off the section with 3 holes to make it lighter. And "OMFG, the bar is worthless becuase we don't have Bill's precise calculated rates!!" Well, I'm happy to say, you're the only idiot that is so wrapped around the numbers. Most people go with feel. Push? Soften the bar. Loose? Stiffen it. All the calculations in the world won't help your shitty driving that I see all the time in your signature.
Fifth, "the collars aren't black"... wow, I guess they're going to fail cuz they're not black. Actually, Bills original design caused the collars to push the poly bushings out of the D bracket. Not good. People made their own homemade fix, before Bill finally offered his own fix. Mine has a Delrin sleeve that is thick so that it will not push the bushing out. Oh Noes!!! It's not authentic Gendron! I'm doomed!!! OMFG....
And Gendron's "Monster bar," he only offered that bar after someone else (I believe Wynveen was the first) had already made their own "monster" bar and did exceptionally well. If I remember correctly, Bill was initially AGAINST the idea of making an even stiffer bar and had to start it off as a group buy to make sure it was worth his time to even make.
There's a lot of shit you don't know, and that's my point Josh. You post on this forum all the time pretending that you know something, when you don't. That's worse than someone that doesn't know what they're doing because you're spreading a shit ton of misinformation. So unless you're damned sure that you know something, stop wasting everyone's bandwidth, and more importantly, stop talking like you actually know what you're takling about. Most of the autox regulars know to regard your posts as nonsense, but newbs won't and you could very well steer them in the wrong direction.
For the record, the bar on Annie's car that I drove at Nationals, the one that I beat National champ Robert Thorne with to win the ProSolo Championship, had a "copy" of the Gendron bar. Actually, it was better than the Gendron bar. And now that I know Pete was the one that made these arms (Pete and I go wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy back. He's the first guy that let me ride in an S2000 10 years ago, which made me want to get my own), I wouldn't hesitate to keep them. I know a lot of personal attention was made to make those arms.

Ummmmm.... no. Then all you needed to type was "I don't think it's from Gendron." Instead, you do what you do best, make lots of ASS-umptions that are completely false, ASS-uming things as if you think you knew what the f@#k you were talking about. Examples:
WRONG. his original arms looked VERY similar, minus the wrinkles.
WRONG (awesome grammar btw)
OMFG this one was so funny, becuase you even say you don't know, yet you STILL made an ASS-umption without knowing ANYTHING at all!!!
Wow, you don't know shit about sway bar arms, and you make a comment like this? I hope your little brother is adopted, because if he's not, he couldn't make a sway bar arm if his life depended on it. You're retarded, and so if your brother is genetically related to you, so must he. You like that ASS-umption? Cuz that's how you sound. (eh, I won't go there)
And this is all from ONE f@#king post... you know what they say about ASS-umptions...
It has nothing to do with whether you were right or wrong, but everything with the fact that you used many WRONG ASS-umptions. Even the sun shines on a dog's ass every once in a while. And what you DID do was exascerbate the situation by making the guy feel like he bought a piece of crap when in fact it's a great bar.
no, you do.
Could you do everyone a favor and just put that at the top of every post you make, bolded and underlined. Better yet, just don't post at all.
let us all bow down to the great Josh!
and his amazing car with the shocks that he spent so much money on that he could have just bought Penskes (and still probbably aren't even as good) with the kewl license plate. And by kewl, I mean gay.

As for being wrong and not knowing shit... I think I was correct. Didn't we conclude the bar isn't from Gendron?
So sorry your mad but it seems to me I was correct and the bar should of never been marketed as a over priced Gendron bar when in reality it was a home made bar. Yes they might do the same thing but the resale value shouldn't be the same. I just found the shit funny and my post reads as if I'm joking about it.

I don't post acting like I know shit.
I actually claim most of the time "I know nothing."
As for my shitty driving in my sig, That was from my first run with new kooks. So the car was crazy loose. I just like the clip and thought it looked cool. I'll post some more of my shitty driving in a bit. Since I had the fastest raw time at the local event today and would of Paxed 2-3rd out of 71 drivers but I clipped a cone after the finish on my fastest run because I glanced up at the time and hit the brakes late. But yea, I guess I'm a shitty driver. PS I Paxed 5th with a run .5 seconds slower then my fastest run, but I suck right?

why? if we delete this, we should delete all of Josh's previous and future posts as well. Someone needs to set the record straight about this guy's posts.

Probably best to remove all this stuff, take the arguing to PM where it belongs please and delete this as well!

I deleted my post and will delete this after James deletes his. Not sure why he's freaking out but I guess I shouldn't answer anyone else's questions. I never claimed to be fast nor have I claimed to know anything. I even post saying that 90% of the time I post any technical answers. See you at nationals James, don't smash my times to bad.
