I know that the swift springs are rather soft, but they are just temporary till I can afford a better quality full coilover system.
Especially since relocating the tabs in the rear is completely not necessary to fit the maximum wheel and tire, and you're nowhere near prepped for the class, I'd be really surprised if anyone had a problem locally. You would be in BSP I believe technically.

Alignment sounds good to me. Keep in mind you'll need some kind of camber kit to get that in the front. Personally I like low caster for these cars but it's a preference thing.

Ah.. yeah I realize that now. Maybe I'll just max it out, and stick with my rear camber number as long is its not off by a mile.

I've actually autocrossed an otherwise-stock AP2 on Swift lowering springs, on STR-spec 17" x 9" wheels (square). It was of course floppy but my times were surprisingly decently quick compared to the other guys in S2000s with true STR setups, at least on the low-grip asphalt lot we were running on that day.

Know that if you plan on continuing to run the staggered wheel/tire setup (8" 225 front, 9" 255 rear) you're going to have a lot of understeer once you swap out what I'm assuming is currently an OEM front bar on your car for the Moddiction bar.

Agreed with IntegraR0064 that it's extremely unlikely any of your local competitors would care that your car is slightly/technically illegal for STR based solely on the relocated rear fender tabs. Although, if you manage to beat people with full-prep STR vehicles with a staggered wheel setup and just lowering springs, they're likely quite terrible at autocross and then also likely to complain about your illegal car.

Our local events are not that big.. I think the most we've had in STR is 3-4 cars including me. All the others were Miatas, but I'm unsure of all the mods they had, they did look pretty modified.

I've been beating them all, except at the last event where my entire heat was on a soaked course, and their runs were on a much drier course.

I did not realize that fact about the understeer. Is this because of the stiffer setup, making for less contact in the front on the 225s? I've heard that a lof of STR cars run a very heavy front bar, but they are on 255 square. I definitely don't want to be understeering any worse than I am now.

I already feel that the car is very understeery since switching from AP1 sized all seasons.

The TRs seem to be the overwhelmingly top choice for STR wheels! I guess it's hard to beat the price & availability of this wheel.

Just for the record...a stock AP1 16x7.5 w/ a 225/50/16 Bridgestone S02 weighs 42.5 lbs

By comparison, a TR C3 17x9 with a 255/40/17 RS3 weighs 45.9 lbs, so I added a little weight to the car, but a crap load more grip

Since this thread was started, Tire Rack has a couple of new choices from Kosei. They're both ~16.5 lbs and $199. Lighter than a PF01 and cost less.
