The only downside to THill is Willows - an amazingly boring turd of a town amidst the farmlands.
I'm used to going to Spokane and Mission for track days. How much worse can it be?

This is a truckstop on the side of the freeway with some rural services for the local farming community. It's one of those freeway exits you would never even give a glance unless you desperately needed gas or a place to crash alongside the freeway for the night. The town highlight is a Walmart right near the freeway exit - its the only department store for roughly 40 miles in any direction.

Spokane is a booming metropolis in comparison....

Four straights you can get 100+ on, lots of elevation changes, multiple blind corners, pretty much nothing to hurt your car...heck of a track

Spokane is the biggest hick farm town in the world. It's a rural truck stop with rush hour traffic.

Ever been to Mission? The only thing it has going for it is a certain quaint Canadian-ness....

Trust me - Willows will speak for itself when you get there.

I have a question realted on Thunderhill...I'm also attending the CFRA event on 4/24. I spoke with them yesterday, and Ed (Pres.) told me they are running the course backwards that day (AKA clockwise) and probably do the bypass (i.e., not run the sharp turn 5).

I've done events there, but only on bikes and only anti-clockwise. Any of you have experience and tips for doing it clockwise?

it's not like buttonwillow is any better right? or rosamond?
there is like 3K people that live in willows, walmart is the highlight of the town i geuss. it's not really a big truck stop town...there is just one place big rigs pull over to sleep (across the street from walmart)
to bad it doesnt have a FlyingJ or something like that lol.

Thunderhill (Willows) is nothing like Buttonwillow (The actual town itself where the 'houses' are). I had a rather adrenaline charged experience outside a liquor store the first time I stayed there. Seems like everyone climbs out of a mine at 5pm, is drunk by 6pm and looking to fight by 9. Willows, by comparison, is like a gated community compared to BW.

Also....does anyone know what the hell stinks so bad in Buttonwillow? Smells like puke and sewage outside in the morning.
