Falkens are fine on track, just don't have optimal grip. Not really much to say about them. If you ran the last generation of 200tw you'll know what to expect. Decent communication, feel, etc. Nothing to write home about really.

I need to buy some new tires next week and I am thinking of going with the A052 tires.
I do track days and time trials (need 200tw for class) and I sometimes drive the car (on the track tires) 120 miles to and from the track.
Does anyone have opinions on the Yokohama A052 tires lasting for 3 or 4 track days/time trials with driving on them to and from the track?

I cant speak to how long they will last on a track, but all inputs I have received from Autocrossers running the new yokes points to them wearing a LOT faster than an RE-71R.

In case anyone's interested, I had a brand new set of RE71Rs and Nankang AR-1s in my garage, so I weighed a couple of each.

Both in 255/40/17.

RE-71R: 24.5lb
AR-1: 26.7lb

(Just a bathroom scale, so those are each probably +/- 0.1 to 0.2. It is pretty accurate though, from measuring some known weights.)

Also measured a new TSW Nurburgring wheel in 17x9 +63: 18.7lb. Going to measure my Interlagos too, when I change the tires on those.

Forgive me for not reading the all the comments. re's in my eyes suck for a 20 min session. They fall off fast, all most can say it's an auto cross tire.
Nt01 is prob best of both Worlds.
A052 is best grip but wears a little. but much better life than re's
Rc1 ok grip last forever. Not good if you like skip angle in corners
Nt01 is my tire when not using slicks. Best i found. A052 is a bit more grip but way more expensive and they don't last as long. Nt01 gets better as they wear all the way to the cords dare I say

Just ran my first day on a new set of Nankang AR-1s. It was interesting. Definitely more longitudinal grip than the RE-71Rs. Both from data-logging and feel, I could brake significantly harder. However, lateral grip felt lower, especially in the rear—the car was much looser than I'm used to. Had a number of big slides. Tire temps after a fast cooldown lap were in the 160s front, and 180s rear. (Generally with the Bridgestones my outside front is hotter than rear.) My best laps were 0.9s off my PB of 1:23.2 on this track, but I was also less consistent than usual. Tried a variety of pressures without seeing much impact on cross-section temps or or grip. I wonder if the Nankangs are more sensitive to camber than the Bridgestones; that might explain why I've lost grip in the rear while the front is ok.

Does anyone know what pressure they like (relative to the RE71R or in general)?

They take more heat cycles than the RE.
