Donut, how much tongue weight do you think you normally have? It may be that you didn't have enough tongue weight, which would cause the trailer to pull UP on the hitch too much over bumps.

With 4 tires on the front of the trailer, and tools and jack in a storage box on the rear, the tongue weight is ~53 lbs. I've taken a couple long trips with nothing but 8 tires on the trailer and the tongue weight in that configuration is ~49 lbs. Is ~50 lbs. not enough?

Hey MadDane. Tomorrow SR71BB and I will be at Grissom for the CenDiv Autocross, we will take pictures there, then is up to Martin to post them.
Donut, sorry about the cracks, looks like the tongue weight it's perfectly normal for a trailer in the 450-600 lbs range, I agree with you about needing more than large area washers, maybe some plates welded on the inside of the car would take care of the problem.

Anyone know if the Hammerly hitch can handle ~200 lbs of tongue weight? I am considering a TireTail instead of a trailer.

Hello Jeff
Please keep in mind that the 200 static lbs. plus bumps etc. you have in mind are with your tire tail that is 2 1/2 feet from the trailer hitch receiver, in effect multiping the torque at the hitch to 500 lbs (static load).
I feel that it is a risky move , think about it

Is the Da'Lan hitch designed in a way that the TireTail twisting around wouldn't be as much of an issue? From CoralDoc's picture, it looks pretty stout. Anybody know how much it weighs?

I have a brand new Da'Lan hitch for the S2000, complete with everything you need to mount it minus the draw bar and ball. Never installed.

I've decided to continue changing my tires in the garage and driving on race tires rather than trailering to the track.

I was planning on listing it for sale one of these days. Anybody here interested? $200 + $25.

gernby - the Da'Lan hitch weighs about 15 pounds. I've now used the hitch to tow my little trailer over 6k miles without incident.
