[QUOTE=sjs0433,Sep 2 2009, 07:27 AM]It really would be nice if there was a 275/35/17.

I think a lot of people are thinking that 255 just aren't cutting it any more.
Which would lead me to believe they like to drive with understeer or don't want to change sway bars. It's really depends on driver style.

Were you running the 9.5 +38 RPF1's in your sig? That's big time full-lock counter steer at "Sunset"? No rubbing even then?
Yup, +38 and no rubbing.

275/40/17 is too tall for those of us running stock gearing. Plus, my 255/40/17 front tires have already rubbed through the top fender liners onto the chassis. This situation will be even worse with a bigger tire.

275/35/17 is the perfect size, on Emilio's upcoming 17x10" wheels. I'm pretty sure whichever reputable tire company were to be the first to come up with this size in their max/extreme performance or Rcomp tire, they will be gobbled up like hotcakes.

Such a race tire is already being developed for possible production.
Care to shed some light on this?

No understeer with 285's all around.

Balance is not the problem. Increasing peak lateral grip is the goal Finding the right size for the weight of the car without scrubbing too much speed is the key. Not that many people have experimented to see what potential there is with a 275s or 285s.

The balance will change.

I dont think people understand. In order to maintain proper gearing, a 25" tire must be used. That limits us to:

255/40/17-Pretty much the standard.

255/35/18-More expensive tires, more expensive wheels, heavier tires, heavier wheels.

285/30/18-More expensive tires, more expensive wheels, heavier tires, heavier wheels, might be worth the extra contact patch. Not much data other than Andrew saying he was having a hard time getting them up to temp. Ry and Bill have run them, but they have gutted 400+whp race cars.
