Default when to track brand new s2k?

so i'm new to new cars and new to s2k's.

i've tracked a few other cars that were used or well broken in over the years.

so, what's the general concensus regarding tracking a new s2k? i've got an '08 cr w/ ~700 miles on it now. it's a play/track car only, so the miles don't get racked up quickly.

do you guys wait for the 1st oil change? i read synthetic is recommended ~15k. that would probably take me 2 yrs. to get that mileage. i'd like to run synthetic for the track, since engines get extremely hot at the track. i know some have taken new cars to the canyons, but i think it's different than running full bore for 25 minutes on the track.

i'm planning on running next weekend. the track is ~150miles away, so that's some more break-in miles on the car.

just looking for some advice. tried searching, but i think i must suck at searching.

thanks.

once you can hit the VTEC after 600 miles, you are good to go

do you guys run the same pads front and rear?
on light rear-ended fwd hondas, we run wimpy pads in the rear. i like the old cobalt b's on front and gt-s on the rear on my civic.

I track my 06 at 1200 miles with the stock pads. Which are smoke all 2 front when coming in from cool down lap. Next time out I have Cobolt XR-2 front and GTS rear.

Don't sweat these details. All the advice you will get is just apocryphal anyway.

I say track the car as soon as you want to, switch to whatever oil you want to switch to at the first oil change, just change the fluids at the regular maitenance intervals for a street/track car, and treat it like any of the other cars you have tracked.

Since you have previous track experience, you will probably want dedicated track pads (and perhaps rotors -- this car does eat up rotors fairly quickly). I would suggest for people with track experience, don't even bother trying to track the car on the street pads. Just keep them for the street and get used to swapping.

You might want to start off with a low temp track pad the first time around (something like the Carbotech Panther+) while you get the hang of the RWD and the S2000, or if you have previous RWD experience just go straight to full track pads.

See the FAQ for discussions on pads.

except that i change my oil, trany, diff after each weekend, only because i put alot of miles on the car during the week. I tracked mine with 1000miles on it and still goin strong have almost 20,000 on it now and i bought it in Nov....

and deff get some track pads, the stocks wont last more than a day depending on how you are with the brakes, Im running Carbotech XP10s all 4 corners and like them alot.

Mike gives good advise. I tracked my first S2000 (MY 2000) when it had 3,600 miles on it, but would have been fine with doing it much sooner.

I wore out a nearly full depth set of front OEM pads in 3 hours during my 2nd track event. Since you have track experience, absolutely get better pads for the track. Put them on all 4 corners.

You're not alone--I just tracked my S for the first time this past weekend. 07MY, 3200mi. Weekend/fun car only, not daily driven.

ATE SuperBlue, Hawk HT-10 in the front, Ferodo DS2500 in the rear. Absolutely perfect. First time I've driven on the track w/ a car and not had brake problems. Repeated 120+mph to 20mph braking for a hairpin turn--no fade or sponginess.

To your question on motor oil--I'm still on my original factory fill. Put a 1/2qt. in before the track day just to top it off, then added another 1/4th of a qt.
