AP1 vs AP2

Just like anyone else who has owned both an AP2 and an AP1, the AP2 is obviously the superior car.
The AP1 isn't that much more wild at its limits. I think a lot of drivers that say this haven't actually been able to drive both cars to their full potential.
There's always that AP2 that ran a 13.3 @ 102mph with just minor bolt-ons that no one can touch:

some of his 60 fts are no better than mine, yet his car goes through the 1/8 mile nearly a full second faster than mine. Then again so does my civic. Like i said earlier. I think with an ap2 transmission an ap1 would be a LOT faster. The gears are very long... too long if you ask me.

Everyone breaks records there.
I've driven both ap1/2 and the ap2 seems like the more "solid" car IMO.. I may be a little biased but the car that made me want a s2000 was an AP1.. then when I got my car and got used to it.. When i drove that same ap1 it just felt weird..

when you got used to your AP2 you couldn't handle the rawness of the AP1 anymore. this actually applies to ALOT of my friends who are AP2 owners.
when i hop in their AP2 i drive it to its' limits at ease, with no problem

Ap2 is a heavier car that pushes into the turns rather then being balanced and as precise. It takes more skill to drive an Ap1, but it rewards you when you know how to stay on top of it. This is rather a moot point though because as soon as you throw on some decent coilovers you can effect the balance and handling nature of the car to be what you want. But the Ap2 is still heavier. That’s why I said take the best of the Ap2 which is the power plant/drivetrain and put it in the ap1 chassis. Then FI the bitch and rev it to 9k

.Was just messin'.
I love both.
I hung with some fast cars in my ap1
.All this suddenly doesn't matter since I have a vortech kit in my room just waiting lol. Hardtop first though
400+ rwhp here we come

The man knows ap1's ain't hitting on shit.. (when it comes to ap2)
I bet that stirs the pot..
Also there's not reason to rev to 9k when you can make the power earlier.. And strain the engine/valvetrain less

These apx debates get rather amusing . So let me get this straight, if you could make 240 peak hp at 5k you would like that better than 8k ? If thats the case you need a different car . Dont kid yourself, you would rev youre engine to 9k if you could its just WAY more fun ! And fun my friends is what an s2k is all about . As for the comment on increased strain on the drivetrain ?? Not a concern as it has been proven that ap1 cars go beyond 200k without issues .

Ap2 is a heavier car
2000 AP1 = 2,808lbs
2001 AP1 = 2,808lbs
2002 AP1 = 2,810lbs
2003 AP1 = 2,810lbs
2004 AP2 = 2,835lbs
2005 AP2 = 2,835lbs
2006 AP2 = 2,855lbs
2007 AP2 = 2,855lbs
i see a trend here.. as more features were added obviously weight went up as well.. (passenger seat air bag sensor.. etc etc..)
the car became more livable and up to date.. ap2 > ap1
i have driven both ap1 and ap2, i like the ap2 tranny better and personally i think an ap1 would be a lot better with an ap2 trans. the gears in a ap1 are much much longer...way to long for an na car. 1-4 on an ap2 is 102mph. my top of 4th on ap2v1's is 119-120mph...stock rev limit. honestley, its personaly preference. to each there own. i love my ap1. my and my friend cruise around almost every other day and when we had the EXACT SAME MODS on both cars, from 40-120 was a drivers race, but all the 20mph rolls i always won by 1/2 car-1 car by 120.
